On December 31, 2023, Massillon Police Sgt. Crabtree observed a vehicle commit several traffic violations. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 21-year-old woman. She immediately expressed her disdain for the police and placed headphones over her ears so that she did not have to listen to Sgt. Crabtree. Patrolman Yoder arrived on scene and they had the woman exit the vehicle. She denied consuming any alcohol even though an open container was found in between her legs. After she performed standardized field sobriety tests, she was placed under arrest for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI). She was placed in the back of the police vehicle, slipped out of handcuffs, and began kicking and screaming while demanding her mommy. Once at the police station, she kicked an officer while being physically restrained. Even though she demanded a breath test, the police report indicates she refused to provide an adequate breath sample.
