On May 31, 2024, Beach Haven Police Patrolman DeLaPorte observed a grey Jeep Cherokee fail to stop at a stop sign. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 22-year-old woman. Sgt. Daly indicated he could smell alcohol coming from the vehicle, so he instructed Patrolman DeLaPorte to ask the woman to recite the English alphabet from the letter D to the letter O. When she failed to stop at the letter O, she was instructed to step out of her vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests, she was placed under arrest for Operating Under the Influence of Liquor. At the Beach Haven Police Headquarters, she refused to submit to a breath test. While waiting for her citations to be issued, the woman became extremely emotional, which included several bouts of crying. Her charges and the outcome of her case are discussed at the end of the video.
