On November 23, 2023 (Thanksgiving Day), a witness allegedly observed a vehicle swerving all over the road and driving without headlights on. The caller told police that he thought the driver of the vehicle might be drunk. Lacey Police located the vehicle pulling into an apartment complex. When Officer Heang made contact with the 28 year-old woman, she immediately became argumentative and stated he should be contacting serious criminals. She was detained for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence (DUI). When she refused to perform standardized field sobriety tests or submit to a portable breath test, she was placed under arrest. Her ride to the Lacey police station was captured on the in-car backseat camera. She slipped out of her handcuffs and then began a profanity laced tirade about how she felt she was immune from drunk driving laws because she had a job. Once at the police station, she submitted to an evidential breath test and the result was 0.20% BAC. She was transported to the Nisqually Corrections Center, where she was required to post bail. Her charges and the outcome of her case are discussed at the end of the video.
