This compelling bodycam footage captures an Albuquerque police officer giving his official statement immediately following the violent arrest of Waffle House attack suspect Yokeen Lunford. The officer gives his supervisor a step-by-step breakdown of the use-of-force incident, detailing how the suspect's non-compliance escalated into a physical fight. The officer begins by explaining the decision to go hands-on: "He took a couple steps towards us, so we just decided that we needed to grab him, 'cause... obviously he's not listening." He then describes the initial attempt to handcuff Lunford, which was immediately met with resistance: "I was able to get one handcuff on his right hand... he pulled away from me... Pulled his left hand away from me, I tried to grab it." The situation then escalates from passive resistance to a physical assault. The officer recounts, "He turned towards me, so I tried to pull him... up against the vehicle to control him better. Um, that's when he pushed me into the car." This statement, captured on bodycam, marks the moment the encounter became a direct physical confrontation. The officer then gives a candid account of the struggle on the ground: "So from there, I figure now he's fighting us, so I tried to... do a couple leg sweeps, they didn't work. Eventually somehow I fell backwards onto myself and he fell on top of me." This official statement was recorded on January 21, 2025, moments after the arrest of Yokeen Lunford. This debriefing is standard procedure following a use-of-force incident and is critical for the subsequent investigation into the charges of battery on a peace officer and resisting arrest. This video provides a rare look into the debriefing process that follows a police altercation, highlighting an officer's perspective on how a situation can rapidly devolve from non-compliance to a dangerous, physical struggle. #policebodycam #bodycam #useofforce #lawenforcement
