This was something VERY minor that turned into a massive life changing mistake. Police were called about a shoplifting incident at a Dollar General store. This was going to be a Class B misdemeanor theft charge, likely no jail time and no real consequences. Even the attitude and fighting with the cop was not going to have a meaningful impact on this lady's freedom. That all changed when she reached for the officer's gun and pulled the trigger. That decision cost her 40 years of her life. Thankfully nobody was hit with the bullet. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Our mission is to document and report on real-world incidents involving public safety, criminal investigations, and law enforcement operations.
