Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At around 10:49 PM on September 21, 2023, Patrolman Sean Edson from the Township of Ocean Police Department went to a report of a car accident on Bendermere Avenue close to Lake Drive. When he got there, he learned that a 2018 Audi Q3 had hit a 2021 Jeep, which then bumped into a parked 2020 Chevy. The Jeep and the Chevy were not being driven at the time. The Audi had a lot of damage to the front, and the airbags had gone off. Patrolman Edson then spoke with the driver of the Audi, who was identified as Clarissa Marx. Patrolman Edson asked Clarissa where she had come from and if she had been drinking. She replied that she was on her way home from Stella Marina in Asbury Park and admitted to having some wine before getting behind the wheel. Because he suspected she might be impaired, Patrolman Edson asked her to do some field sobriety tests. Patrolman Edson began with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. He noted that there was no smooth movement in Clarissa's eyes, and he saw distinct, steady movements when her eyes were turned to the side. He also noticed that her eyes shook before reaching the 45-degree mark. Additionally, there was vertical shaking in her eyes. Next, he conducted the Walk and Turn test. Clarissa said she had trouble balancing and couldn't finish the test even after trying several times. Finally, he did the One Leg Stand test. During this test, Clarissa started to sway and didn't count as she was supposed to. In the end, she couldn't complete this test either. After the car accident, Clarissa admitted to drinking alcohol and struggled to complete the field sobriety tests. Because of this, Patrolman Edson arrested her for driving under the influence. Her car was taken and held for 12 hours as required by John’s Law. Clarissa was then taken to the Township of Ocean Police Department for further processing. At the police station, Patrolman Christopher Stenger read her the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators, but she refused to provide breath samples for testing. After the officers finished handling Clarissa's case, they let her go with a friend who signed a form for her. Patrolman Edson then gave her several tickets, including for driving under the influence, agreeing to breath tests, refusing a chemical breath test, reckless driving, and careless driving.
