Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At approximately 6:08 PM on September 4, 2023, Officer Joseph Lupo from the Hoboken Police Department responded to a report about a 2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio that was blocking a driveway on Bloomfield Street. He initially left the scene after realizing the driveway was not completely obstructed. However, a few minutes later, he returned to issue a parking ticket after Lieutenant Keith Rotondi pointed out that the vehicle could still be considered in violation if it was parked over the driveway line. While writing the ticket in his patrol car, a woman approached him and stated that the driver was intoxicated and needed immediate intervention to prevent her from driving away. Officer Lupo got out of his car and made contact with the driver, identified as 29-year-old Brittany Liva. As he started to talk with the driver, he noticed her speech was unclear and she had trouble standing. Brittany said she had a glass of wine earlier, but she insisted she was not drunk. Because she admitted to drinking, Officer Lupo called for another officer trained in field sobriety tests to come and administer them. A few minutes later, Sergeant Roary Miller and Officers Bianca Arroyo, Marc Lombardi, and Damien Bates arrived to help. The officers thought Brittany might be impaired, so they gave her a chance to take field sobriety tests. Brittany wanted to call her father, Dr. Jeffrey Liva, who is a Councilman in Saddle River, New Jersey. She also mentioned Saddle River's Mayor Albert Kurpis while asking to contact her lawyer. Although the officers offered her several chances to complete the sobriety tests, Brittany chose not to participate. Due to her slurred speech, instability, and refusal to take the tests, Officer Arroyo arrested her for driving under the influence. Since her car was already parked on the street, there was no need to impound it. Officer Arroyo and Officer Lombardi then took Brittany to the Hoboken Police Department for processing. At police headquarters, Brittany was given the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators but chose not to provide breath samples for testing. Once the officers completed their procedures with her, she was released to her mother, who signed the Potential Liability Warning form on Brittany's behalf.
