A routine traffic stop in a rural area quickly intensifies as a subject resists arrest, repeatedly claiming 'I can't breathe' during a struggle with deputies. This video captures the challenging moments as law enforcement attempts to gain control while responding to the individual's distress. The incident began when deputies initiated a traffic stop for a vehicle failing to signal and having damaged lights. After engaging with the driver and a passenger, officers requested the driver to exit the vehicle. The driver initially refused, leading to a physical altercation with the deputy. Following the apprehension, a subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered suspected controlled substances and paraphernalia. This clip focuses on the moments after the subject has been brought to the ground. Deputies are seen attempting to restrain the individual, who can be heard questioning their actions and repeatedly stating, 'Why are you doing this to me?' and 'I can't breathe.' Officers instruct the subject to roll over and stop resisting, while simultaneously trying to reassure him, stating, 'We don't wanna hurt you' and 'Just relax, bud.' The subject continues to complain of burning sensations and an inability to breathe, denying that he is resisting. Deputies are heard mentioning items found in the vehicle during this tense exchange, while also explicitly clarifying that no one is touching his neck.
