Around 12:13 AM on February 17, 2025, Officer Thomas Baden with the Tampa Police Department observed a 2024 Kia SUV strike a cardboard box in the roadway and while continuing to swerve between lanes on W Cleveland Street. He also paced her speeding 43 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. He activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, and the driver pulled over in the vicinity of S Bradford Avenue and W Azeele Street. He exited his patrol car and made contact with the driver, who was identified by her legal name as Lidia Paola Cervantes Cisneros. As he was speaking with her, he observed indicators of impairment and detected the odor of alcohol. She identified herself as Paola, and told the officer that she was coming from the Yard House, and admitted to consuming alcohol earlier that evening. Based on his suspicion of impairment, Paola was asked to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises. Officer Baden started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test, where he observed 6/6 indicators of impairment. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn test, Paola failed to touch heel-to-toe on each step and turned improperly. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand test. During the One Leg Stand test, Paola failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion and put her foot down before the test was complete. Based on her erratic driving, her indicators of impairment, the odor of alcohol, her admission to consuming alcohol, and her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises, Paola was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. After being placed inside the police car, Paola was transported by Officer Baden to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for further processing. At the jail, agreed to submit to a breath test. Her breath test results indicated BAC levels of 0.125 and 0.113, respectively, which were over the legal limit of 0.08. She was charged with a DUI (316.193(1)) and later released on a $500 bond pending her court appearance. ---------------------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting this channel (email us for more information).
