It was heading south on Broad Street. The officer pulled the car over near Obre Place. When he approached, he learned the driver was 22-year-old Carly. While talking to her, the sergeant caught the smell of alcohol on her breath. He also saw signs that she might be impaired. Carly handed over her license and registration. Sergeant Barnicle radioed Patrolman Boehler to come to the scene and help. Sensing she might be intoxicated, he asked Carly to step out of the vehicle and perform some field sobriety tests. The first test was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN). During it, the sergeant saw her eyes struggle to follow his finger smoothly, with quick jerks at maximum gaze. The jerks started before 45 degrees, which raised suspicion. Next was the Walk and Turn test. Carly had trouble touching her heel to her toe on each step and made improper turns. The last was the One Leg Stand. She couldn’t keep her foot up properly and put it down early. Because of the alcohol smell and her poor performance, Sergeant Barnicle arrested Carly for driving drunk. Her car was towed and held for 12 hours under John’s Law. He then took her to the police station for processing. At the station, Carly was read her rights and agreed to give a breath sample. The results showed her BAC was 0.25%. That’s more than three times the legal limit of 0.08%. After processing, she was released to a sober adult who signed a form warning her of potential legal risks. She received tickets for DUI, reckless driving, careless driving, not staying in her lane, and not using her lights. 5:54 Listen closely Did she chirp? 6:30 the camera is making his arm and hand look like a gorilla's foot If you enjoyed this BodyCamBust video.
