Around 10:45 AM on December 16, 2024, Officers Anthony Olivera and Michael Aviles with the Hoboken Police Department responded to a report of a shoplifting at ShopRite on 900 Madison Street. The officers walked upstairs to the loss prevention office and made contact with the alleged shoplifter. They were informed that this man was being detained by store security after attempting to steal motor oil, power steering fluid, and a bagel. This was not the first time they observed him stealing from this particular ShopRite. The man was identified as 63-year-old Marwan Kassabdulahad. Marwan was placed in handcuffs, escorted down the stairs, and placed in the patrol car. They transported him to the Hoboken Police Department for further processing. Marwan was charged with shoplifting under 2C:20-11B(1) and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility. The police report indicates that Marwan's marital status is divorced.
