A roadside stop for extreme speeding quickly escalates into a sobriety investigation, revealing significant impairment. Following observation of a vehicle traveling 85 MPH in a 55 MPH zone, officers initiated a traffic stop. During the interaction, an officer detected the odor of alcohol from the driver, who admitted to consuming wine and disclosed she was pregnant. Standardized field sobriety exercises were then administered, including the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, the Walk and Turn test, and the One Leg Stand test. The driver exhibited multiple indicators of impairment across all exercises, struggling to maintain balance and follow instructions. Based on these observations and her admission, she was placed under arrest for driving under the influence, with subsequent Alcotest results confirming a blood alcohol content of 0.14%.
