On June 28, 2025, around 6:01 PM, an officer of the Hoboken Police Department heard a crash near 2nd Street and found a black Tesla Model X with heavy rear-fender damage. The Tesla driver pointed officers toward a white GMC SUV. The GMC driver said she looked down at a text message and struck the other car while distracted. Officers detected indicators of impairment, and after field sobriety exercises she was arrested for driving under the influence. Reported charges: Operating under the influence (N.J.S.A. 39:4-50); reckless driving (N.J.S.A. 39:4-96); leaving the scene of an accident (N.J.S.A. 39:4-129).
