On September 14, 2025, at approximately 1:02 AM, officers of the Waldwick Police Department were dispatched to the parking lot of Walgreens located at 72 Crescent Avenue in reference to a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, Officer Edwin Sherman observed a 2022 Jeep improperly parked at an angle, occupying approximately three parking spaces. Officer Sherman made contact with the driver, who identified herself as Allison Anderson. The driver initially refused to exit the vehicle despite multiple lawful orders. During the interaction, officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle and observed indicators consistent with impairment. Officer Michael Freeman assumed primary investigative duties and requested that Anderson exit the vehicle, which she eventually did after repeated instructions. Anderson referenced knowing a police officer in a neighboring jurisdiction and mentioned possessing a PBA card. Officers continued the investigation based on observed impairment indicators. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered, including the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN), Walk-and-Turn, and One-Leg Stand tests. Anderson exhibited multiple signs of impairment during these evaluations, including failure to maintain heel-to-toe steps, improper turning technique, incorrect step count, and inability to properly perform the one-leg stand. Based on the totality of circumstances, Anderson was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. A search incident to arrest revealed a cup inside the vehicle containing what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage. Anderson was transported to Waldwick Police Headquarters where the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators was read. She consented to breath testing. Alcotest results indicated a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.20%, exceeding the legal limit of 0.08% in the State of New Jersey.
