For yet another year, The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded a generous grant from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, totaling $237,000, to help keep our county roads safe. A majority of the money will fund overtime for PCSO Deputies working our speed and DUI Task Force enforcement efforts during the holiday season and throughout the year, while $47,000 was given to our traffic unit to purchase a new Dodge Charger. During the 2019 Holiday DUI Task Force, PCSO Deputies made 83 drug DUI arrests and 34 for alcohol. The average BAC on the alcohol arrests was 0.14. “Too many lives cut short due to speeding or DUI," said Sheriff Mark Lamb. "Thanks to the support from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, PCSO can continue to make sure people follow the speed limit and are not driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol in 2020, ultimately making our roads safer."
