On July 4, 2024, Union Township Police Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident where a car drove off the road and crashed into a utility pole. While Officers were taking measurements for the crash report, a call of a hit and run accident came over the police radio. A car matching the description happened to be driving down the road that the police had closed because of down power lines. The 23-year-old woman almost drove over the live power lines. Officer released that she was driving the vehicle involved in the hit and run. They asked the woman if she had been drinking and she claimed she was now completely sober. She was administered field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for her second drunk driving arrest. She was transported to the Ohio State Highway Patrol post where she submitted to an evidential breath test. The result was 0.168% BAC. Because she could not find anyone to come and pick her up from the police station, she was taken to the Clermont County Jail, where she spent 2 nights.
