On November 4, 2023, Belmar Police Officer Vojtko observed a vehicle traveling the wrong way on a one street and not stop at an intersection. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and his police report indicates he could smell alcohol emanating from inside of the vehicle. The 25-year-old woman was asked to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. Despite her self-assessment that she passed all of the tests, she was placed under arrest for DUI. She then refused to get in the back of the police vehicle and had to be assisted into the rear seat area. At the police station, her antics continued. She first agreed to submit to evidential breath testing, but when she was not allowed to make a phone call, she decided to refuse the breath test.
