On March 21, 2025, Charlotte County Sheriff's Deputy Davidson stopped a vehicle for traveling 85 miles per hour (MPH) in a 45 MPH zone. The vehicle was being driven by a 54-year-old woman. She denied traveling faster than the speed limit, but Deputy Davidson chose to issue her a speeding citation nonetheless. When Deputy Davidson asked the woman to sign the citation, agreeing to take care of the matter in court, she refused. The woman repeatedly said she needed to call a family member, but Deputy Davidson explained to her that calling a relative would not change the requirement to sign the citation. Deputy Davidson called for Corporal Staub to come to his location. When Corporal Staub arrived, the woman attempted to drive off. She was ordered to stop and turn off her vehicle. Corporal Staub asked the woman to sign the citation, but she continued to refuse. She was eventually pulled out of the vehicle and placed under arrest. Her charges and the outcome of the case are discussed at the end of the video.
