On December 19, 2024, Holly Springs, Georgia, police officers were told to watch for a Florida physician wanted on a federal warrant. They found his car on Interstate 575 at dusk. He was driving his wife and mother-in-law north to a family home in Blue Ridge for Christmas. He told officers he had no idea why he was wanted. This is the body camera footage from the Holly Springs Police Department, from the stop to the station. WHAT HE WAS CHARGED WITH Stephen Andrew Leedy, then 59, a hospice physician from St. Petersburg, Florida, was arrested on a federal indictment returned in the Middle District of Florida in October 2024. The indictment charges him with five federal offenses involving minors. He has pleaded not guilty. WHAT HAPPENED NEXT As of September 2026 the case has not gone to trial. The trial date has been continued several times. He remains in federal custody. His Florida medical license was suspended in January 2025. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. An indictment is an accusation, not a conviction.
