Once on scene officers located the male and female sitting on the sidewalk behind Walgreens. The male, later identified as Kristopher, approached me and was immediately hostile and speaking non-sensible sentences. Ultimately, officers were able to determine his statement was that the two were arguing but nothing physical happened. The girlfriend was visibly upset and officers could see redness around her jaw. Officers asked her to walk me through what happened, she was initially hesitant but eventually gave officers a statement. She says that Oneal had recently been released from jail. When he got out, he was a different person, behaviorally speaking. On this night he had been very hostile and argumentative with her, calling her "Heather" which is not a name she goes by. She gave officers the impression that the boyfriend had been going through some sort of mental health issues resulting in this dissociation with what was really happening around him. The arguing this night, had escalated to him grabbing her by the hand several times, and eventually on her head, under her jaw area. This is the redness officers saw. She was adamant however, that this was just him grabbing on her, and not an attempt to strangle her. She did decline EMS for her injuries.
