A car had crashed into a ditch near Route 12 and Case Road. Officer Sassolino arrived and saw a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox stuck in the median. He met the driver, Lizbeth Hernandez. He noticed she seemed unsteady. He asked another officer for help. Officer Lily Meyer-Volinek soon arrived. Lizbeth said she drank three vodka cranberries. Officer Sassolino asked her to do some tests outside due to his suspicions. Lizbeth also refused a breath test. The crash, alcohol smell, her signs of being drunk, and her own words led Officer Sassolino to arrest her. He suspected her of driving while intoxicated. He put her in handcuffs and his car. She was taken to the Wauconda Police Department for booking. At the station, Lizbeth agreed to the tests. After they finished, she was told she was under arrest for DUI. She was read her rights. Later, she agreed to a breath sample. The test showed her blood alcohol content was 0.164%. This was nearly double the legal limit of 0.08%. Officer Donahue drove her home after she was processed. She received tickets for her court date. These tickets were for driving under the influence of alcohol. She was also cited for driving with a blood alcohol level over 0.08%. 7:13 No? Just me? Okay.
