#news #police #arrest #cops Report: On 02/26/2022, at approximately 1741, Officer responded to Walmart in reference to a shoplifting. Upon arrival the officer attempted to meet with the loss prevention staff of Walmart when she heard a woman yelling from the parking lot. Officer observed a black female, wearing a black bonnet, black shirt, and camouflage pants running after someone in the parking lot while yelling at them. The officer approached the suspect and the suspect stated that the male she was yelling and had kicked her sons' shoe across the parking lot after making eye contact with her and seeing that she was coming to get it. She appeared to be hysterical and was still yelling after the officer asked her to speak with her in a regular tone of voice. She stated that he was being racist and she proceeded to keep yelling. The officer instructed her to take a minute to calm down and put her son in her vehicle to separate him from the ongoing domestic. The officer then spoke with the victim and stated that he was the other involved party. He reported that he had lightly kicked the shoe out of the middle of the street and onto the median to keep it from being run over by a vehicle. And that she began following him and started yelling at him and telling him to pick up the shoe. When he did not stop and pick up the shoe the woman grabbed his arm and attempted to pull him back to where the shoe was located and he pulled away. This resulted in gouges on the victims left forearm from the suspect. He stated he then tried to waik away again before she chased after him and pushed him, then tripped him, causing him to fall on the pavement. The fall to the pavement resulted in damage to his pants and a minor scrape to his knee. The officer observed one scrape, approximately a fourth of an inch long that did not break the skin, and three small gouges consistent with the size of the tip of a fingernail, that did break the skin on the inside of the victims left forearm. The officer also observed damage to the knee of the victims left pants leg and redness on his left knee. This occurred in front of the suspects child who was in the buggy that the suspect left by the trunk of her parked vehicle before the altercation occurred. The child did not appear to be scared and was not crying. The officer later discovered that there was another female child present during the incident. The officer then spoke with a female who reported that she was a witness. She stated that she saw the suspect run-up to the victim and push him with such force that it sounded like a smack. She reported that she did not see the suspect attempt to grab the victim by the arm and that she attempted to intervene and told the suspect that it was not worth going to jail over. The officer then spoke with the suspects mother who was reportedly walking beside the suspect when this occurred. She reported that the suspect started in on the victim and was cussing at him. The officer then attempted to speak with the suspect again who reported that she did push him but that she did not intentionally scratch the victims arm. Video evidence was obtained from the Walmart security cameras in which the victim can be seen kicking the shoe onto the median while looking down at the ground. Due to the visible injuries to the victim, testimony, and the video evidence that the unwanted contact from the suspect to the victim resulted in visible injury to the victim, the suspect was arrested and taken into custody, BBDL. Davis was transported to the jail without incident. The officer later completed a follow-up with the victim who advised he was going to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center to have his injuries looked at. He stated that he was having severe pain in his elbow from where he was pushed onto the ground.
