A Hyundai Elantra and a Toyota Corolla had crashed. But the officers learned the crash was in Barrington. So, they called the Barrington Police. Corporal Krystal Jankowski arrived at 1:55 PM. She spoke to both drivers at the Dollar General lot. One driver was Alyssa, who drove the Hyundai. The driver of the Toyota tried to turn left onto Shreve Avenue. He was going south on Clements Bridge Road. The Hyundai hit him. The driver said she did not stop at the stop sign. He spoke with Corporal Jankowski. He stated Alyssa's passenger ran. The man was wanted by the law. Alyssa would not give his name. Corporal Jankowski smelled alcohol on Alyssa. She asked if Alyssa had been drinking. Alyssa first said no. Later, she said she had wine earlier. Sergeant David Hunt came to help. Alyssa’s odd behavior made officers think she was impaired. They asked her to do field sobriety tests. First, she did the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test (HGN). Corporal Jankowski watched her eyes. He saw they did not move smoothly. Her eyes twitched at the extreme edge. The twitching started before her eyes reached 45 degrees. Next, Alyssa tried the Walk and Turn test. She did not touch heel-to-toe. Plus, she turned the wrong way. Finally, she attempted the One Leg Stand test. Alyssa did not lift her foot right. Also, she forgot to count until an officer told her to. The smell of alcohol hung in the air after the crash. Alyssa admitted to drinking before getting behind the wheel. She failed the field sobriety test. Corporal Jankowski arrested Alyssa for driving under the influence. John’s Law mandated a 12-hour hold on her impounded car. Then, Corporal Jankowski took her to the Hillsborough Township Police Department for processing. At the Barrington Police Department, Alyssa listened as they read her rights. She agreed to take a breath test. The Alcotest showed her BAC was 0.16%, twice the legal limit. Officers finished their paperwork. Alyssa was released to a sober adult. The adult signed a form taking responsibility for her. Police issued Alyssa summonses. These included: driving under the influence, not reporting an accident, and fleeing an accident scene. Alyssa's past includes some trouble with the law. On July 15, 2023, she was arrested for DWI in Haddon Heights, NJ. Sadly, this wasn't her only such arrest. She faced the same charge again on March 7, 2024, this time in Magnolia, NJ. 1:42 did you catch that... 3:17 Is she really, really tall, or is the cop really, really short? 30:46 Ya, she's b.s. ing us.
