On April 10, 2024, Las Cruces Police Officer Dutton initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle weaving in traffic lanes and fail to use a turn signal. The 19-year-old driver immediately blamed her traffic offenses on texting while driving. Officer Dutton wasn't so sure that this was the cause for her erratic and dangerous driving. The driver was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests and was eventually arrested for DUI. She was transported to the Las Cruces police station, where she submitted to an evidential breath test. Upon completion, she was taken to the Dona Ana Detention Center. She charges are listed at the end of the video. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
