He spotted a 2012 Toyota driving without its headlights and swerving between lanes. He decided to follow the car and pulled it over on Route 36 north of Highlands Elementary School. After stopping the vehicle, he approached the driver, who was identified as 23-year-old A. Turk. Alexa informed Sergeant O’Donnell that she had gone to a work event in Asbury Park earlier that evening. Afterward, she came to The Chubby Pickle in Highlands to meet friends. She admitted to having two drinks before arriving, but Sergeant O’Donnell felt she might have had more. Concerned about her level of impairment, he called for backup as he began the field sobriety tests. Patrolman Hartsgrove showed up shortly after. Sergeant O’Donnell began with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. He noticed that Alexa's eyes did not move smoothly, showed clear trembling when turned to the side, and started shaking before reaching a 45-degree angle. Next, they moved on to the Walk and Turn test. Alexa struggled to walk heel-to-toe, lost her balance after the sixth step, and returned 20 steps instead of the instructed 9. The third test was the One Leg Stand. Here, Alexa could not lift her foot correctly and set it down several times. Finally, she attempted the Alphabet test, but she could not recite the letters in the right order. Patrolman Hartsgrove arrested Alexa for driving under the influence after observing her erratic driving, confused statements, and poor performance on sobriety tests. He first took her to the Atlantic Highlands Police Department since their station couldn't perform the breathalyzer test. There, Sergeant Brian Phair explained the process to Alexa, and she agreed to provide breath samples. Sergeant Phair set up the Alcotest machine after Alexa consented to provide breath samples. The results showed her blood alcohol content at 0.083%, which exceeded the legal limit of 0.08%. Once the breath test was completed, she was taken back to the Highlands Police Department. After being processed at Highlands Police HQ, Alexa called her boyfriend for a ride home. She waited for a while but was eventually released to him. He signed a Potential Liability Warning form for her, just before her first court appearance. Patrolman Hartsgrove issued her several summonses, including operating under the influence, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, driving without headlights, and not having an insurance card. 1:47 New letter dropped bois GJÆ 2:23 the cops trying sooo hard not to laugh 2:50 WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK 2:52 LOL 13:59 the cops laughing 15:40 but I feel fine, I don't understand 17:30 I've spent an embarrassing amount of time watching 21:43 when he said ALEXA I half expected him to voice a command 46:00 what’s that?
