On the night of April 1, 2025, Tampa police were called to Airside F, Gate F81 at Tampa International Airport. The call: a passenger refusing to get off an American Airlines flight bound for Nashville. According to the incident report, airline staff told officers the woman — identified as Lauren Nash — had been drinking at an airport bar before boarding. Staff say she boarded, then ran back up the jet bridge after realizing she'd left a bag behind. When she was told she would not be reboarding, police say she went back down the jet bridge anyway and returned to her first-class seat. Then she refused to leave it. What follows is several minutes of one of the calmest standoffs you will see on bodycam — an officer explaining that everyone else will be removed if she doesn't move, and a passenger insisting she has done absolutely nothing wrong and that she paid for the seat two weeks earlier. No one was injured. No battery, no weapon, no assault on an officer. She was booked on a single misdemeanor: disorderly intoxication. ⚖️ Lauren Nash was CHARGED, not convicted. She is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
