🚨 130+ MPH Stolen Mazda SUV Pursuit — Sikeston & Miner, Missouri (Dec 5, 2024) A Sikeston DPS officer was dispatched to a FLOCK alert for a stolen red Mazda SUV traveling northbound on South Main. The vehicle, stolen out of Edina, MN, was located moments later and followed eastbound onto E. Malone. When the officer initiated a stop in the parking lot of 1031 E. Malone, the driver — Niesha L. Hughes — suddenly accelerated away, beginning a high‑risk pursuit that went through Sikeston, Miner, and onto I-55. Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Cooksey deployed spike strips near the 60‑mile marker, successfully striking the Mazda’s front driver‑side tire. Despite the flat, Hughes continued driving at ~70 mph for several more miles. The vehicle finally came to rest near the 56‑mile marker, but began rolling forward again. A Miner PD officer witnessed Hughes jump into the back seat in an attempt to disguise herself as a passenger. Officers removed Hughes and the front passenger from the vehicle and took them into custody. Hughes denied driving, but later made a spontaneous statement: “I wasn’t resisting, I drive like that every day.” Her license was confirmed suspended out of Illinois, and the stolen vehicle entry was verified active.
