A driver is pulled over by a sheriff’s deputy after the officer notices unusual driving, including drifting toward the middle of the road and riding the brake. During the traffic stop, the driver admits he had been drinking earlier, while the deputy notices signs that raise concerns about possible alcohol impairment. The situation takes an unexpected turn when the driver reveals that a woman was sitting on his lap while he was driving. The deputy asks him to perform standardized field sobriety tests, but he refuses. After explaining that the refusal means the deputy must make an arrest decision based on his observations, the deputy places him under arrest for DUI. As the arrest continues, the situation becomes increasingly tense. The driver repeatedly argues with deputies, says he cannot breathe, mentions panic attacks and an asthma inhaler, demands a lawyer, and refuses several instructions while officers attempt to place him in the patrol vehicle. The vehicle is also impounded, leading to another heated confrontation over the tow and inventory search.
