Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: October 23, 2023, began with a crash. At 1:19 a.m., Union Township officers were called to Burnet Road. A 2020 BMW 330 had struck a parked 2016 Toyota Camry, sending the Camry into a 2021 Chevrolet Suburban. All three cars were badly damaged. The BMW driver, 28-year-old Justine, told police that a truck ahead of her had been driving poorly. She said she swerved to avoid it and hit the parked cars. Officer McDonough arrived soon after. While speaking with Justine, he smelled alcohol and saw other signs that she might be impaired. She told him she had been drinking at a friend's house before driving. The officer asked her to take roadside sobriety tests. During the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, McDonough watched Justine's eyes. They did not follow smoothly, and they began twitching before reaching the 45-degree point. She also struggled with the Walk and Turn test. She missed heel-to-toe steps, turned the wrong way, and took the wrong number of steps back. On the One Leg Stand test, she failed to raise her foot properly and put it down too soon. After the crash, the smell of alcohol, and the failed tests, officers arrested Justine for drunk driving. Under John's Law, they impounded her car for 12 hours. Officers read her the Standard Statement, and she agreed to a breath test before entering the patrol car. Officer Kelly and Officer Rossi took Justine to the Springfield station. The Alcotest machine in Union Township was broken. At the station, her blood alcohol level measured 0.16%, twice the legal limit. After processing, officers brought her back to Union Township. A sober adult signed the Potential Liability Warning, and Justine was released until her court date.
