#news #police #arrest #cops Report: On 04/02/2023, Officer was on patrol in the area of North Ave and Old Hull Rd in reference to a block party that had just ended and people were gathering again in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot. Officer observed a Blue Dodge Charger driving with the trunk completely open. Officer conducted a traffic stop on that vehicle. Officer explained that he was stopping her because her trunk was open and she stated that she just realized her trunk was open by looking at the odometer screen. The driver identified herself as Jada. While speaking with the suspect Officer could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. Officer asked how much she had to drink and she stated that she hadn't been drinking. Suspect was displaying the following physiological indicators of impairment by Central Nervous System (CNS) Depressants such as alcohol: ● Depressed reflexes ● Disorientation ● Glassy eyes Officer asked if she would consent to take some voluntary field sobriety test to make sure she was okay to drive, and she stated that she would. HGN Results: ● Lack of smooth pursuit: Left eye ● Lack of smooth pursuit: Right eye ● Distinct and sustained nystagmus maximum deviation: ● Distinct and sustained nystagmus maximum deviation: onset nystagmus prior to 45 degree's Walk and Turn Results: ● Can't keep balance while listening to instructions ● Starts before instructions are finished ● Stops during the test ● Does not touch heel-to-toe (missed heel-to-toe multiple times). Loses balance while walking (steps off linee) Uses arms for balance (raises arms over six inches) ● turns incorrectly ● Incorrect number of steps One Leg Stand Results: ● ways while balancing ● Uses arms to balance (raises arms over six inches) ● Hopping ● Puts foot down Officer asked suspect how much she had to drink and she stated that she had a beer earlier when she was at a block party. At that time I placed White under arrest. Hands behind the back. She was placed into the back of the patrol car and I read her Implied Consent. She wouldn't stop talking long enough for me to read the card. Officer read to her and asked her several times if she would consent to the breath testing. Suspect did not answer after asking her several times. While en route to the jail White stated that "if she sees you out, I'm going to beat your a**." She stated that twice. Upon arrival at the jail, Officer opened the back door to get her out of the vehicle and she kicked the door as Officer was opening it and the door struck me in the chest. Suspect was then turned over to deputies.
