On February 9, 2024, Athens Police Officer Johnson observed a vehicle traveling without headlights on. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was driven by a 20-year-old female. He asks her if she has consumed any alcohol and she denies that she has. He tells her that he is observing signs of impairment (he later admits to a fellow officer that he did not smell alcohol), and the woman then admits that she drank 2 electric lemonades. Because of her self-admission, she is asked to step out of the vehicle to perform standardized field sobriety tests (FSTs). She is subsequently arrested and transported to the Athens Police Station. She submits to an evidential breath test (EBT) and the result is 0.116% BAC (nearly 6 times the legal limit for someone under 21 years-old). At the end of the video, she is released to her mother, who does not appear very happy to pick up her daughter at 3:00 AM. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
