On February 1, 2026, Rio Rancho Police Officer Haughney observed a Telsa Model Y driving erratically. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 39-year-old woman. She admitted to coming from the Slate Street Bar, where she consumed one Bud Light beer approximately one hour prior. Officer Haughney asked the woman to exit her vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. She refused, however, to provide a voluntary breath sample into a portable breath testing device. She was placed under arrest and was transported to the Rio Rancho Police Station. After being read the New Mexico Implied Consent Act, she refused to provide breath samples. Her charges are discussed at the end of the video. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
