Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At about 9:56 p.m. on June 5, 2024, Township of Union Police Officers Bryan Sousa and Louis Bone went to Halsey Street. A caller had reported a parked, empty car blocking the road. The officers found a 2021 Toyota Corolla sitting across the street, with a woman asleep behind the wheel. She identified herself as Lauren and said she was waiting for her fiancé to return. As they spoke with her, the officers smelled a strong odor of alcohol and noticed signs of impairment. Lauren said she had drunk two White Claws earlier that night. They asked her to get out of the car and take field sobriety tests. Officer Sousa began with the Walk and Turn. Lauren had trouble keeping her heel against her toe and used her arms to steady herself. She also struggled with the One Leg Stand, repeatedly putting her foot down. The officers ended that test early for safety. After Lauren showed signs of intoxication, admitted to drinking, and struggled with both tests, officers arrested her for driving while intoxicated. They impounded her car for at least 12 hours, as the law requires. At the station, officers read Lauren the standard statement for drivers. She agreed to provide breath samples. After a 20-minute wait, they drove her to the Springfield Police Department for an Alcotest. The result showed a blood alcohol content of 0.25%, more than three times the legal limit of 0.08%. Lauren was then taken back to the Union police station. After processing, she was released with a court date. Officer Sousa issued four tickets: driving under the influence, reckless driving, careless driving, and obstructing traffic. Court records show Lauren was found guilty of driving drunk on November 19, 2024. She had to use an ignition interlock device for three months, attend a 12-hour alcohol awareness program, and pay $383 in fines. The other three charges were dropped as part of a plea deal.
