Police report: “On Thursday, November 11, 2021, Officer Hodakoski was dispatched to a 911 hangup. The initial notes of the call stated a male was mumbling on the phone, mentioning something about his sister. Officer Hodakoski immediately recognizes this address and knows Anthony resides at this location and calls 911 on a daily basis and does not have an emergency when he calls. Anthony stated on the phone he was trying to get his sister out of his room and that he was now going to leave and walk to the bus station. Officer Hodakoski located him outside and made contact. Prior to making contact with Anthony, Officer Hodakoski inquired how many times he called 911 on today’s shift and did not have an emergency. He dialed 911 approximately 6 different occasions tonight, all in which he did not have an emergency and did not need any police assistance. On all phone calls, and when contact was made, Anthony stated him calling 911 was an accident. In total since September 18, Social has dialed 911 approximately 244 times, without having any emergencies. Per Florida State Statute 365.172 (14) - 911 and e911 service must be used solely for emergency communications by the public. Any person who accesses the number 911 for the purpose of making a false alarm or complaint or reporting false information that could result in emergency response of any public safety agency; any person who knowingly uses or attempts to use such service for a purpose other than obtaining public safety assistance; or any person who knowingly uses or attempts to use such service in an effort to avoid any charge for service, commits a misdemeanor in the first degree. Anthony committed the office multiple times this evening six, as well as throughout the year. On a regular basis Anthony continues to disregard the officers’ and communications division’s requests not to call 911 for non-emergencies. Anthony’s actions create a strain on resources and interfere with legitimate calls for assistance via the 911 system. Due to this, Officer Hodakoski placed Anthony under arrest and transported him to the Lee County Jail for lodging.”
