Watch police teach this incredibly irresponsible mother a lesson after she makes all the wrong choices when her baby gets locked in a hot vehicle for nearly an hour. On July 19th, Lake City police responded to a 911 call about an infant locked inside a car. >> 911. What was that? Emergency. Is this a cinema 90 theater? >> Yes. >> And what's going on there? >> Uh she locked herself in a car inside the car and I can't get her out and I need somebody. >> How old is she? Okay. How long has she been in there? maybe 20 minutes. She's crying right now. She's hot. She's sweating. >> The suspect had placed her child in the car seat and accidentally locked herself out, then spent over 30 minutes trying to get back in before finally calling for help. Officers arrive and speak to the mother while preparing to break the child out of the car. >> And my siblings just got here and I had to go get my phone. >> You got to uh punch. She's been in there for like 30 minutes already. >> You got one. Go ahead. >> I know, baby. >> Go other side. Other side. Other side. abuses advised fires. The child's been in the car for about 30 minutes. Uh vehicle's not running in the heat. >> Come here, baby. >> Are you serious? >> Yeah. Hey, come here. >> Come here, baby. You're okay. >> I was trying to get her to open. >> Oh, no. Come here, baby. >> I didn't have my Yeah, you guys can go ahead and go with it. Who? Listen. >> You got Do you have a driver's license? >> Yeah, it's in my bag. >> Yes, ma'am. If I can get that, please. >> Can I go around this way and see her? >> I don't know if it's open. You You want to stand stay? It's not open. They're trying to keep this. There's AC in there. They're trying to keep the air inside cuz she's hot. I just wanted to make sure cuz I know I didn't call instantly cuz I was trying to get her to open the door. I didn't have my phone on me. My phone was stuck inside the theater. And >> what do you mean stuck? Like >> like it was inside. I didn't have nobody was out here to help me like call or anybody. And she was fine. Like she was okay in the beginning. >> So the theater's open. Why would you not walk up to the window right there and tell them to call 911 for you? >> Cuz I was trying to get her to open the door cuz in the beginning she was fine. She was laughing. She was playing. And I was like, >> but after 30 minutes and over 100°, how do you think that's going to affect her? >> Do you understand what I'm saying? >> Yes. You understand what I'm getting at? >> I don't understand what you're saying. I understand what you're getting at, but I'm trying to tell you it's Never mind. >> Can I get her name? >> Her What Center is you taking her to? >> Uh, probably HDA. >> Over there. Can I go over there? Like, can I go? >> How long was she in the vehicle for? >> I don't know exactly. I estimate like maybe 10 to 30 minutes. I don't know. I didn't have my phone on me. I don't know what was. >> Okay. How why was she in there long? >> She was in the vehicle because we she was crying in the movie theater. So, I took us outside and I sat in I sat us in the truck. The doors were open when I I her door was closed cuz I didn't want her to get out and run in the road, but the door was open and I we were sitting in the truck. I got out to bring us back inside because it was hot. So, I closed my door and I went around, but she locked the doors when I went around to go get her. And then she locked herself in the truck. I didn't have my phone on me to call anybody. And I didn't want to leave her out here by herself while I went inside to try and get help from somebody cuz I didn't anything could happen in the time that I go from here to there. Can somebody say I get in my truck to go see her? Like, what what you got to do? Who >> is Is this This is your son or who's he? >> That's my brother. >> This is your brother? Is there another adult here with the car? >> No. >> Okay. >> No, please. No, not right now. Not right now. Please. >> So, she's up here at the theater for whatever reason. I'm assuming to watch a movie. She herself in the car. So, instead of and her phone is already inside the theater somehow, but the baby never made it into the theater. So, baby locks herself inside the car. So, instead of calling 911 immediately or going to someone help from the window, she tries to get the baby to unlock the door. So baby's not unlocking the door. So she's doesn't want to leave the baby to go inside to get her phone to call 911. Doesn't want to walk up to the window to get the concier up there to call 911. So instead waits 30 minutes with this child in this not running hot ass car. >> What is she doing for 30 minutes? >> Standing there at the window trying to talk to baby and unlocking the door. >> So her phone is up there. >> Her phone's in the theater. She has it now. I think is that I think No, that might be her wallet. But yeah, 30 minutes talk to EMS. The baby was obviously in distress. The baby was screaming, crying. The baby is hot to the touch. Maybe one two. >> Two. >> About to be two. >> [ __ ] She was going to get the baby to unlock the door. >> I don't know. >> Get my four-year-old. >> I can't get my four-y old to unlock the damn door. >> About to go ahead and have him hook her up cuz she's getting more agitated. I don't want any shoes. She's 100% needs to go to jail. You want to go ahead and advise her that she's going to be 10:15 and Yeah. >> So, I'll go and hold on to it. Yeah. All right, ma'am. Hey, go ahead and turn around for me. >> Yep. Go ahead and turn around for me. Go ahead. Put your hands behind your back. Thank you. >> You're going to be going to jail today for child endangerment, man. >> Okay, that's fine. >> Has anybody come in there and talk to the employees inside? >> Not yet. >> You can take me to jail. You can do it. It's in my back pocket right now. >> Your phone's in your back pocket. >> Yes. >> Okay. Let's get you to the hospital. We'll look in there. Get that child's father. >> No, they're them. I am the adult with them. That's what I'm trying to say. There's nobody else here. >> How How old is she? >> He is 12. 13. >> How old is the other person? >> She is 14. 15. 14. She's 14. >> 14. >> Yes, she's 14. That's They're my siblings. That's my sister and that's my brother. >> See if we can get the phone number for Scottish father. Okay. Can you reach your phone from there? >> Yeah, I can. Go >> ahead and pull that up. Can you open it from there? >> Yeah, I can. >> He might not answer mine. Yeah, let me go ahead and call him from your phone cuz he might not answer mine. What? No, it's okay, Ron. It's okay. I'm okay. >> Uh, yes, sir. >> Okay. What is your current location? >> I'm at my house. >> Which is where? >> In Providence. >> Okay. >> Providence. >> Providence. >> What's going on? >> How far is Providence from here? >> It's like 15 20 minutes. >> 15 20 minutes. >> Yes. >> From Lake City. >> From Lake City. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> What's going on? >> So, >> can I talk to Never mind. Never mind. How you doing, my man? >> Yes. To my understanding, she is like, I'm just here assisting right now. So, right now, we're here with the >> Tapora. >> Tapora. >> Yes. >> Okay. We're here with Tapora right now. There was an incident that took place that she was involved in. Like I said, if you can get to the cinema 90, we can go ahead and explain everything to you further. And right now, we're just trying to get you here so you can pick up the other youngest that's with her as well as the So, like I said, just if you can, then we can go from there. >> Yes, sir. So, I'm I'm getting ready to know. I can get there probably like 20 30 minutes. >> Okay, cool. Like I said, we had um >> we had cinema 90. Okay. >> All right. Appreciate it. >> No problem. >> All right. Hold on to her for a second. >> Yeah. >> He said about 20 minutes. >> 20 30 minutes. You >> can I don't know. Just put it up there, I guess. I mean, I don't really need it. >> All right. If you could just stand here next to the vehicle for me. >> Yeah. >> Thank you. I got pictures of the punched window and the glass on the ground. And I took a picture of the tag on the back. >> Who broke the window? >> I did. And I just used my ass. Peel it out. I can feel the glass in my hand, but it'll be all right. >> That's why I was trying to get here. >> I have one of those window busters. >> Did you? >> I was going to tell you. >> Wanted to test it out. He said to be honest. Wanted to play a little bit. >> Yeah, I did. >> So, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. >> No. >> So, you left from here after she got locked in the car. You left from here, went back inside. >> No. >> Okay. You were standing out here the whole time? Yes, I was standing out here the whole time with >> Okay. You did you try to flag anybody down? Hey, can you call 911? Can >> No, cuz No, there was nobody out here to like that I could get down get to and I was trying to get her to unlock the door cuz she knows how to unlock the door. She would just didn't want to. >> Okay, she if she wasn't unlocking the door, how come you didn't just run inside real quick to the desk and say, "Hey, call 911. My kid's locked in the car." >> I didn't want to leave her out here by herself. >> It would have been 2 seconds rather than how long? 30 minutes. >> I don't know how long it was. >> That's what I'm saying. See, you don't have You said be You said between 10 and 30 minutes, right? Between 10 and 30 minutes, rather 2 minutes and then 5 minutes response to you immediately or 10 minutes standing here at the car staring at her through the glass. >> Okay, go ahead. Come with me. >> After detaining the mother, officers speak with theater employees who provide accounts that slightly contradict the suspect's version of events. >> She was inside with the baby and brought the baby out to the car >> halfway through the movie or something like what was That's what I'm But when they started telling me, I was like, "Hold on." Cuz this is some pertinent information. >> You going to need tugman? Hold on. We need parents for them other two as well, cuz they only 12 and 12 and 13 or 12 and 14. >> Hey, so what? So she brought the baby in or >> So I did not witness any of it, but I asked them if they saw anything and so they did say that they saw some stuff. So >> I'm assuming they were watching a movie. They came out to the lobby kind of deal. The kid was kind of like walking around the lobby and stuff. So I noticed that she brought a kid outside. She came back in. >> She brought She came outside again, but I wasn't aware if she like came back in or not again. So >> So when she came out, she had the baby with her. >> Mhm. >> And you did she come back in with the baby or was the baby >> first time? No, she came back in again, not with the baby at all. >> Okay. Did she ever say anything to y'all? Never mentioned like >> she didn't she didn't notice us at all. Like kind of she >> Okay. Did she look like she was in a panic or anything like that? Didn't look like she was in any type of distress. Were the other children, the other kids, those two older ones? Were they with y'all when that happened? >> No. >> Were with her when that happened? I'm sorry. They were not. Were they still in the movie or >> I do not recall seeing saw the boy in the green shorts walk out like twice and but didn't see a child >> and none of them said >> none of them said anything to us. They kind of just were walking in and out a couple times. Like I saw them standing next to the car and I'm think it looked from where I was it looked like the windows down. They were just chit cchatting with whoever was in the vehicle. So, like I'm thinking nothing of it cuz that happens all the time. So, >> what was the time frame there? >> Um, that would have been about 30 minutes ago that I saw the boy walking in and out. Um, >> what was the last time you seen the child? She walked out with the child. >> I going to guess 20 30 minutes. I don't know. >> So, probably what she said about 30 minute time lapse. The baby was and the baby was already hot to the touch. So >> that's she had been in there for a baby inside the the movie theater and she sent the brother out here back for to go check on >> that's what it's basically this lady she's in there watching what I'm gathering is she's in there watching the movie and I'm thinking that maybe the baby was showing out during the movie so and it's a little baby she brings the baby out here to the car and puts the baby in the car unintentionally I think unintentionally locks the baby in the car a 30inut time lapse goes by where she is trying to coach the the 2-year-old, the one-year-old to unlock the door, which is not going to happen cuz she's one. And the from what the theater is saying, she had come back into the theater twice after the baby was already locked in the car. Did not appear to be any did not appear to be under any type of distress and never once asked him to summon for help for the baby that was in the car. And the baby was obviously in distress. Yeah. She was sweaty. She was beat red. Oh, no. She's going to jail right at like 100% going to jail. So, I'm going to run her up to the hospital just so she can uh talk to the people. Yeah, cuz that's absolutely the baby and EMS got the baby out of the car. >> She's in protective custody right now. Go ahead and have a seat for me. >> Okay, >> so anybody that has any contact with her has to have a thorough background check. The environment has to be checked where she's going to be at. That's how protective custody works. >> Okay, >> have a seat for me. >> My baby going to be gone. Oh my god. Really? Good. She's going to be in a safe place. And that could either be with another family member. That could be with whoever DCF deems safe. >> Wait, wait, wait. Can I ask? >> I'm getting in the car with you. Huh? >> So, that's that's up to the judge. I don't know the answer to that question. I do know that you won't have a bond. So, you're going to be in there at least until until you go to court tomorrow. Once you go to court tomorrow, the judge will determine what the bond will be. And then if whatever they set the bond at, if you can make that bond, then they'll release you. Um, and then you'll have to go through the steps with That's all that means. Okay. >> Okay. Um, >> I saw her while while we were in there. I saw her. She's She's awake. She's She's eating a popsicle. >> Okay. >> Yep. They're pumping her full of fluids, getting her, you know, all the good stuff. >> That's all I want. >> Okay. >> Oh, I was so scared. I was so scared. Okay. Okay. That's good. Okay. And what she say? >> Absolutely. >> Okay. >> Yeah. [ __ ] Yeah. They're not going to do anything to endanger her. I don't know if the hospital is going to so I don't know what the hospital's doing with her. Um I don't know if they're sending her to Gainesville. I have no clue what's going on with her treatment. I I did enough. I went uh and saw just enough to make sure that she was, you know, upright and appeared to be okay, which she was. So I don't but I still don't know if they want to send her to Gainesville for evaluation. Then they'll probably put her in an ambulance with a nurse and send her down to Gainesville. Okay. >> Yes. When I get to jail, will I be able to call my mom? >> They'll let you make phone calls when you get to the jail. >> Okay. I just want to let you know cuz I have to let her know what happened over there. >> Okay. >> I wanted to say something. >> Yes, ma'am. >> I just wanted to tell you um I know the people in the the what they call the people in the theaters you they said we were outside for about 30 minutes. >> No, they said that it was 30 minutes had passed since the time that you left out with the baby and the time that we showed up. They said that y'all were in and out of the theater though, just not with the baby. >> In and out of the theater. >> Yeah. They said that I guess your siblings went in or came out went back in. So >> my my brother he Yeah. >> Yeah. They they didn't say it was uh 30 minutes that >> Well, the time my siblings came out after I was outside. >> Yeah. They said it was after you. >> So after like my brother came out, >> they said from the point that you took the baby outside to the point where we showed up, it had been 30 minutes. >> Okay. Okay. Well, I just want to tell you that we we were outside for about 30 minutes, but she wasn't that at during that duration of time. I was in the truck with her for about >> Hey PD, I got a Bravo Fox E R I E X apostrophe Jackson. I mean, not apostrophe R. >> The suspect was charged with child endangerment and ultimately pleaded guilty.
