On October 22nd, 2021, the Sanduski, Ohio Police Department was called to the scene at the local Cedar Point theme park for reports of a potential employee theft within the park. The following shows the bodywn worn camera footage of what happened during the incident. [Music] Yousef, this is starting to dwind. Yousef, before we get into any questions on the game, there's some stuff I'll show you. There's some questions I want to ask you. Again, like we talked a be honest here. Okay. Sometimes in life, being honest with people is the hardest thing to do, especially if you know you did some wrong. Let's get it fixed. Okay. But before I ask you any questions, I got to read your rights. I know I explained them to you out there, but I'm going to go over it in the formality now because I'm going to get more. Got your name, home address, city, state, and zip for me. Okay. Who's that guy? You seem to know him pretty good. You hand him off some money. He's got a face mask. Is he a regular? I don't know. That's what I'm asking you. How do you know him? Cuz he came right up to your game like he knew you. Yeah, it was Sunday. Came right up to your game like you knew you and you took money out of your apron and handed it to [Music] him. Can I see the film on this one? You might have this one wrong. I'm I'm not going to lie to you. I see the video. right here. Is it a kid or something? You keep spending a lot of time changing denominations in your apron, which normally most people don't. You said changing denominations. Yeah. Like you're messing with your money flowing around it. They make us um I know the games very well. So when you start saying they make you No, I'm saying they want it to be all neat and stuff at the end of the day. That's just him a bunch of money. I don't know that guy. Go back again. Did he go with the the group of kids or something? Did he come up with the group of kids? Kids are playing the counter. The thing is this is money that you would have taken in from Gus. Guess I don't know him at all. I really don't. I might have I might have really owed him things or just got confused. Okay. Who's that? who what's his own name? [Music] You do the same with him and with him seems ironic that they're all employees. I don't know him, but I do know these two. Who's this? I don't know. So, why are you taking in money from guests and not chain like you're supposed to in the games? chain up, but you never pulled it the entire time I watched you. I watched you for four hours and you never want to pull the chain. And then I watched you also take and put a lot of money out of your left apron in a cup and walk out back and look out to the midway to see who's paying attention to. Say that one more time. I said you took a lot of money out of your left side of your apron, put it in a cup. I watched you walk to the back and as you walk out this back door, you walked back to see who was paying attention to you. Okay, let me ask you this. I guess we can get cut to the chase. Yeah. I mean, I got enough video here to know that you're not running the game right. I got enough video in here to know that you're not handling the game correctly and that the game's short quite a bit of money. How much money have you taken from the game for your own personal use? [Music] Probably like 800. About 800 because the game's a thousand short. It's over,000 short. Okay. How much have you taken? Probably 800 and handed out probably like um probably like four on top. So this kid that you handed money to, who is he? Be honest with me. The one with the glasses. I I honest I I honestly don't know him. So, did you owe him money? Did I owe him money? Yeah. No, I don't owe him. So, why would he come up and do an exchange with you? And again, I'm not messing with you on the marijuana issue, but were you selling some marijuana to him when you guys do the handshake? I could see the handshake where he's handing you something and money back like in exchange. I wasn't selling. I know he comes to you quite a bit during the day. a lot of time at your game. Yeah. Sometimes I watch you like come up and like try to get free shots or try to play. But I watched him hand you something in your in your hand. You put it in your apron and then you pulled out a certain set of denominations and came back and I see you handing cash. Why? Again, all I'm asking is Beyonce. Okay. Why? So, um, so if I do like tell you what happened, what's all I'm going to do is ask you to be honest with me. I can't work any deals right now. Okay? That's something that Sergeant Dillinger and I will talk about. Okay? But you and I got to figure this out. Okay? I'm going to ask you to be honest with me with each one of these people that came up to your game and who they are. I honestly I don't know. I know who you I know of him and I know who you're talking about. I don't know their names. Who's he work for? With the dreads. With the dreads. You said he worked foods. Does I'm just asking you. Does he I'm not sure what I usually just see him around in the comments. Everybody I know from the comments and they just walk up to me and Gotcha. All right. So, I know a lot of people from the games. So, what are you what are you selling at the game besides free shots? I don't sell any drugs or anything. Okay. But to me, and I've shown Sarge the video, it sure does look like when you do the handshake. Trust me, I've been out. I I grew up on the streets, too, just like you did. So, I know the exchange. I can see stuff in her hand. Is there's an exchange, you put it in your apron, and then I can see you walk down the game a little bit, come back, you pull cash out of your apron, and hand him cash. Again, I'm asking you to be honest with And you said you already talked to I I'm dealing with you right now. Well, I know I took I took money. I didn't I don't sell drugs. So you give them that. So what you're saying is you're stealing the money from the game and handing it off to them because you don't want to get caught with it on your person. Basically the cup that you walked out of there. You had quite a bit of money in that cup, too. If I said right now, because that's just day one, that's just Sunday. How many other days have you stolen money? cuz I know that wasn't the only the day before. How much you steal the day before? Um, I only stole 160 because I heard other people take money, but I didn't think you could take that much money. Problem I got right now is there's only so many of us to work it and sometimes when you get greedy, you stand out like a sore thumb. You stood out like a sore thumb on Sunday. So 160 on Saturday. based on what their audit came back, there was a,035 that you should have turned in. Um, meaning that the game as a whole based on the number of plays because Brett literally sat and notched every game play that you took money in for there's a,097 that's missing from the game. Would that be a good assessment to say that probably that's what you took on Sunday? Yeah. In addition to the 160 on Saturday, how much have you taken in the past? Because this isn't the first two days that you taking money, am I right? I'm asking to be honest with you. Um, no, that's it. So, you only stole two days in a row? No, I I think I took Friday, too. Friday? How much take Friday? 60. I really my way up seeing how much So why the handshakes? Why the hand exchanges? Why the money going out to these guys? And you just I I mean I can I can keep showing you more video. I've got a stack of of video of you doing handshakes with these guys where they're literally handing you something that you're putting in your apron and then you're I constantly see you folding certain amounts of money in denominations and then handing it out to these guys. Just giving out the wrong change. Yeah, but these are employees. They're not supposed to be playing the game. You know that. I know that. Yeah. You're supposed to be pulling the chain to meter every game play. You're not doing that, right? Yeah. So why would they keep coming to your game? I know you're smoking marijuana. That was I just told you. Is it is it for something else? I just told you wrong change. Wrong change. So basically you're stealing the money and just you owe them money or you're handing them money out because that's that's where I'm trying to put it all together. Why would these three keep especially this one? Why would he keep coming up? I already know who he is. Why would he keep coming up to your game multiple times and you handing him money for wrong change? He didn't pay you to play the game. So he did. He handed me money. Did he? Yeah. Not what I saw in the video. He handed me money. He handed me like a pump. One time it looks like he may have, but I can't see that clearly. But most of the time he's just shooting away and you're handing him money. He's shooting away. Yeah. Like he's You're just setting basketballs. He's shooting. Remember, I'm gonna talk to these guys. He's going to have to tell me something totally different. Give you the opportunity here and now to tell me exactly what's going on. I just gave him the wrong change. I'm not dealing any drugs. I promise you. I gave it because that's that's my assessment based on what I'm seeing that maybe there's some rules going on. Again, I don't know you, Yousef. I'm not gonna I'm not going to judge you in any way, but I don't know you. It's is literally wrong change. I'm not gonna lie. But he never paid to play. That I can tell you. He probably he probably handed me some money that was voted. He never paid because I just showed you his video. He just walked up out of nowhere and you just handed it. You cuped the money. Now, if you're going to hand him money, wouldn't you count it out so everybody can see it? Why would you cup it and hand it to him? Like to do it discreetly so nobody could see you hand any out. I'm not going to lie, I really don't I I honestly don't know who that is. I mean, somebody back home. Yeah, somebody from back home. And can you play it again? He looks like He don't look like he work here. No, this guy does. This guy doesn't. I honestly don't know who that is. You got another one. That's him. No, I mean I I know I'm saying I did it on purpose, but it was But what I'm asking you, he didn't pay you to play that game. He handed you an item. What was the item that he handed you? He handed me like folded up money. So you can see Oh, so he handed you money. You handed him money back. Yeah. No. Come on. I'm asking to be honest with you. I promise you I'm not selling. I'm I'm being 100% honest. So what is it that he's handing you? You're stealing money. So why is he handing you money? Why would he come up and just hand you? It's a smaller denomination. Okay. So, how much money did you hand him? I I don't know. Probably like you give him a couple hundred bucks. Not a couple hundred. What' you give them? Probably like a couple pops cuz I really don't like doing that kind of stuff. Make me nervous. So, obviously you aren't dealing drugs. You're dealing something. I'm not dealing. But Yousef, if you look, he didn't hand you cash. I'm pretty sure. I could see you hand him a bunch of money back. I saw that come out of your apron. Whatever you had, and he handed you I promise you. It's very minor. It's small. It was very small. And you tucked it right in there. I promise you I'm not selling any trucks. So, what do you get? How much money did you give him of the day? Because he came to your game a couple times. Well, I probably he probably came and I told him come back later type of and you give him more money. No, I tell him my supervisors or something are too close or I just make excuses cuz I really don't like doing that. There's a lot of video out there too of you doing this. Obviously, I got three people that show up. They wouldn't just show up and I'm not I'm not lying because you saw this this kid right here. Yeah. With the glasses. You didn't play the game. You handed him cash and he walked away. So that tells me you got to know him. You either a owed him money or he he gave you something or you or you he you sold him something. I wouldn't that's kind of I really wouldn't do nothing like that in public anyway. Like buy drugs in public in front of everybody. But I really don't know who that guy is. I'm not going to lie. A lot of my friends don't wear face masks neither. That's another face mask. He doesn't wear face masks. A lot of black people really don't wear face masks. So, I take my I really don't know anybody who still wears a face mask up there. That's why I'm That's a big like pod. No, I don't know him. I'm not going to lie to you. So, why would this guy hand you something so small that you can't It was probably It was probably like a photo of one so you didn't see it. But he knows he's not supposed to play a game. Just like, you know, you're not allowed. Only games aren't supposed. I thought games I can't even I'm full time and I can't go up and play games. I didn't know that. I thought I was only know my orientation. But to me, Serge can correct me if I'm wrong. Unless I drop you. Okay. All three of them. Yeah. I'll probably wait after work or wait on a break to go do that. That's kind of I know. That's what I thought. Why would you do that? That's kind of stupid. But again, I've seen crazier. I've been here 34 years. I've seen a lot of crazy things. So that's why I'm asking you, why does he keep showing up at your game and you keep exchanging things with him? He probably just he probably he probably he'll probably really just dab me up and I'll tell him to come back later. I can't do it right now. I I know there's one time that he hands you money and uh Well, that's probably the only time that you actually saw them. Yeah. And that's it. But then that time he didn't hand you money. I know he didn't. I can tell. I can zoom in. There's no money in this ain't going to you. Not unless that $100 bill is about the size of quarter. Not even that. I'm telling you, I'm not selling drugs or dealing drugs on it. Let's do this. Let me get a written statement from you. You spell out exactly what you took on the days. How you're doing it. And then uh I'll talk to Sergeant. We'll see what we can do. Okay. Where we're going to go with this. Okay. Okay. Do you have a Georgia driver's license? Yeah, I have. You got an Ohio one and a Georgia? Let me see that one. These both you or is this Mhm. Is this haircut? No haircut. You look so different. That's before the army. This is army. This is after. All right. You were in the army. Yep. Is the way that these guys just walk up and everything's done discreetly like it's cut like you don't want nobody to see what you're doing. Is it to seem to buy something from somebody else that you owe them money that you're stealing from the game to pay them back? That's what I'm trying to make. You're looking too far. I promise you. Well, then help me figure it out. Why are these guys just walking up? Exactly what I said. Like the one guy you said, well, yeah, but he never played the game. Trust me, I've watched I've watched so much video that for my two days that I worked, I would have loved to been out walking in the park because nobody was here. Yeah. I spent both days just watching video. Mhm. So that guy was never at your game and then all of a sudden he shows up comes up to you like he knows you and you got that money. The guy with the black guy, the short black guy with the glasses and you hand him cash. I honestly I honestly do not know him. I thought I thought I might have given him. It might have been someone just like this picture. Or it might have been I had people's friends get change for them. So let me ask you this. You're at $1,312 that you've taken Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. I know this isn't probably When did you start working for Cedar Point? U September, but I really didn't start working until September this month. Yeah. So, you just started what, the end of September then? Yeah, towards the end of September. So, you haven't been here that long? No. What will make you think it's okay to take money that doesn't belong to you? Cuz everybody else is telling me about it. Who else is stealing that you know of? They gone now. that there's a few that got word that I was coming after them and they just disappeared. So, but again, you saw the video. I can't paint a rosy picture, but you obviously that that was a small small amount of whatever it does look like whatever Hudson gave you and you put it in your apron and then you walked down and came back and hand him a bunch of cash. I don't do any other drugs, but I might smoke. I don't know your trust me. Like I said, I'm not going to judge you. I mean, when I walked in the door, you were smoking marijuana. Yeah. That's the only thing I do, though. Okay. I don't do anything. So, help me understand all of the money going out the game. Say that one more time. Help me understand why you're giving all this money out to these guys. Cuz sometimes, I mean, like some people are like like [ __ ] up or [ __ ] up position. Were they hurting for money and they needed money and so they were stopping by and you were giving money out of the game? Yeah. To help them. There's a lot of people that are struggling here. I get that. There's a lot of people that probably are given a lot of hours to work on the weekends and then for lone some unforeseen reason they just call off and don't show up to work and then they complain they don't have enough money. Sergeant, do you have any questions you want to ask them? I think you summed it up pretty good. I don't think you're going to come off with anything else. I don't know. I'm not dope or anything like that. But these guys giving you money that you're giving them money. You're saying that they're hurting for cash. So you're stealing from the game to give them some extra. Yeah. Just like like 20 bucks or a couple fives or something. Not no crazy stuff. I always, like I said, make me nervous doing it cuz for reasons like you just said, it look like he's selling drugs, but it just some people it's still stealing. You can't give away. You can't steal from the game to get that money. I'm not going to lie. You right. I know it's wrong, but I just figured it's like see the point make like millions of dollars a day. Trust me. So, it does it does look like drugs. Um, is that a conspiracy? No. No. I mean, you saw it on the video. It It looks like there's a drug transaction going on. The way you're explaining it could kind of make sense. Maybe that it just it doesn't make sense to me why somebody would wad up money so small that you can't see it other than they're trying to hide it from the video, but then they hand it to you and you're saying it's a small denomination. So, you're trying to make I'm assuming what you're saying is that you're trying to make it look like a transaction was made. They hand you a small denomination. You you put in your apron. You hand them more money back. So, you're giving them money because you're handing them more money than what they gave you is what? Correct. Okay. That last part of them, they're giving me more money than they Yeah. Yeah. Like, they'll hand you uh $3, you give them back 15 or 20. Yeah. Okay. But the fact that they wadded it up so small and the way you did it, it does an elimination. Yes. But it also does look like a drug transaction. That's why he's asking you. So, maybe that's the case. So the the only thing I'm wondering is and there's multiple people and this is just from one day that he was able to watch and he's going to at this point probably I would assume look into the other guys too and I'm wondering if you're going to be walking up to their games. I don't think they were games. Okay. Well, whatever they work I don't know if they handle money. I don't know. Is there anybody up there know the rope but this rope? already know. Well, this is I think a better way to handle it anyways because if you sat here and tried to lie and look bad when I go to court, too. Yeah. I would say it's going to try to make it look, you know what I'm saying? Yeah. And she usually reaches out to us and says, you know, how was he cooperative? You know, you're probably the most cooperative person I've had in a while. So, most of them will try and the most polite cooperative. So much work on the front side because when I bring somebody in, they start lying to me. All I got to do is show them one video. Say I got many more. And then they changed their mindset. All right. So, I text my uh roommate to come put up my valuables or whatever. Yeah. Yep. Were you calling somebody about bond about bond money? I was just asking [ __ ] about bond though. Oh, okay. They told me that [ __ ] up a lot. They told me just sit my ass down until Monday. I wouldn't be surprised if it's busy even with the weather and the cold. Hey, if you need I can send you that report electronically. So, if you want to drop it in as an attachment or however you want it or I can scan it in and attach it. So, You been around a lot of people that have been in trouble? I don't know. Just uh You just seem to understand the routine of what's going on easier than most people. Yeah. Would you have most people like scared or something or like people get uh No, I mean get cussed out or don't talk to us or belligerent just just I did do it now. Yeah. Okay. Even though I check you, he's probably going to check you again. Okay. You want to do it now? Yeah. And you can just put them out in front. I got to put handcuffs on you before I take you to jail. [Music] You want me to put my hands up on the window? Ah, you don't have to do that. Okay. Just keep them out in front of you. You don't have like pocket knives for anything like that. No other drugs, nothing. No drugs. might might have most of the most of the money in here. Got it all in the wallet. Uh there's a lot. Yeah, we're not going to take it though. Obviously, um I would hold on to it, like I said. Yeah, cuz if it comes down to it and the court says, "Yeah, you know what? If you just pay it back, then we'll uh drop it down to a misdemeanor or drop it completely. Maybe if you don't have a record. Can you cut that off for me? You want me to turn it off? Yeah. Or just cut it off. I don't care. You can do it. Okay. [Applause] I'll do it later. Yeah. I don't when people are super cooperative, polite, respectful. I don't mind if you have your cell phone. It's the people that are the other Yep. And then they want to call somebody on the phone and cuss me out on the phone in the back of the cruiser. I got you. So, all right. Thanks. You take it easy. You too, man. This is one of those things I always teach our younger kids when they get done. They go, "Why do they thank you?" It's cuz your shoulders. Yeah. Not everybody's an [ __ ] Yeah. No, but he could have been. I mean, I know he could have changed. He could have lied to me the whole time and have to cooperate. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty. Thank you for watching.
