We got one guy in custody at least multiple car uh one civilian that was involved in the crash. >> Looking for two more guys running around town. >> Hey, can you guys shut this down? and >> Hey, are you okay? Wake up, bro. >> What's your name? >> According to the [music] police report, a review of Motorworks' surveillance footage revealed that five to seven offenders stole many key fobs and [music] began stealing luxury vehicles at 6:00 in the morning. They were in the middle of stealing their second round of cars when police arrived. 27-year-old Tavarius Jackson was charged [music] with two counts of aggravated possession of a stolen vehicle, criminal damage to property, aggravated battery to a peace officer, and aggravated fleeing and [music] eluding. A second suspect, 23-year-old Lamont Jackson, was arrested 2 mi south of Motorworks [music] after crashing the second Mercedes that fled the lot. He was charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding and possession [music] of a stolen motor vehicle. Both suspects were held on a $100,000 bond and both suspects were [music] on parole for prior felony convictions. According to the Illinois Department of Corrections, Tavarius received a 4-year prison sentence for two counts of burglary and three counts of possessing a stolen vehicle. He was released April 2025 and is on parole through spring of [music] 2026. Lamont received 5 years for burglary, aggravated reckless driving, and possession of a stolen vehicle, and is currently serving his time at Pinkneyville Correctional [music] Center. According to the police report, the black Porsche was never located. In all, five people sustained injuries in four separate crashes caused by the group of thieves, and all involved have made a full recovery. They didn't just steal once that came back for seconds. Same lies, [music] same plan, and same arrogance. But that's not a random crime. That's a system. And when you see it play out in broad daylight, it's hard not to wonder how deep this [music] network really goes. When a crew walks into a car dealership during the daylight, they're sending a message. We're not hiding. And that kind of boldness doesn't just shock people, it shakes the foundation of what safe even means. You can't script stuff like this because one minute officers are responding to suspicious activity at a dealership. The next a Porsche is ramming a squad [music] car with the cops still inside. And that's not just a felony, it's a message. And that's I don't care about getting caught and I dare you to try and stop me. Timing is everything because early morning thefts mean low patrol presence, lower dispatch response, and open highways for quick transport. Crews like this do not operate solo. The answer to a bitter boss, sometimes even interstate syndicates that move stolen luxury cars probably faster than banks move money. Now, federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of Missouri, working with the Justice Department's violent crime and racketeering section, recently indicted 10 members of an organized theft ring called the Strikers. And this crew hit more than 20 dealerships across eastern Missouri and southern Illinois, selling around 50 [music] high-end cars. Hellcats, Trackhawks, BMWs, Audi's, Mercedes worth $3 million. And they didn't just take the cars. as they stole key fobs, plates, and caused major property damage, later flipping the stolen vehicles on social media for as little as $500 to $10,000. These [music] thefts aren't isolated incidents. They're symptoms of a large, well-coordinated criminal economy stretching across state lines. I don't believe this was three random criminals. It was a test run from a machine bigger than them. Barington was just a dot on the map that morning. But make no mistake, someone higher up is counting the profits while police deal with the madness.
