Hey guys, how are you? >> Good. How are you? >> Good. I'm patrol media with DPD. Just you know my camera's on. Can I have your license, registration, insurance? >> Of course. >> Thank you. >> Should be welcome. >> Uh, do you mind taking everything out for me? >> Of course. >> Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> How you doing? I'm good. How are you? >> Good. >> Where are you guys coming from? >> Um Jax. >> Okay. Anything to drink tonight? >> No, I'm D. >> Okay. I just stopped it because you have uh your your lights are out. >> Oh my god. I'm so sorry. >> This is our car, so I'll just taking us home safe. >> Okay. >> Sorry. >> Um you can just turn them on for me. >> Of course. Yeah. >> Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Um let me check out all your documents and then I'll uh I'll be right back with you. Okay. I'm good with just one guy. >> Are you sure? >> Yeah. Thank you. >> 625 47. Careful. >> Hello, sir. >> Um, just came through the circle. No lights on. She was weaving a bit. I'm going to pull her out, test her. Um, >> do you mind doing HM for me? >> Not at all. >> Not. >> All right, ma'am. Uh, do you mind just stepping out for me real quick? >> Yeah, of course. >> I just want to uh do a quick eye test on you. Make sure you're okay to drive. >> Yeah, of course. >> Just uh step right back there with the other officer. >> How you doing? >> Thank you. >> I'm good. How are you? >> Good. >> We're just going to turn these lights off. Like you said, I'm just going to take a look at your eyes. Make sure you didn't Did you have anything to drink tonight alcohol wise? >> One way earlier tonight. >> One way earlier like like hours ago. >> Yes. >> Okay. Sounds good. >> It's like what? 2:30ish right now if I'm not mistaken. 245. Yeah. >> Okay. >> So, like I had some like way before we even left to go out. >> Okay. Sounds good. Yeah. So, I'm going to do is stand with your feet together, arms down at your side. Basically, just how you are, just arms at your side. >> No problem. >> I'm going to take my pen and I'm going to move it in front of your face. Okay. I'm going to ask that you track the tip of my pen right here with your eyes and your eyes only. >> No problem. >> So, essentially just keep your head still. Look at the tip of the pen with just your eyes. Okay. >> Do you Are you wearing contacts right now? >> No, but I have them occasionally. >> But you're not wearing them right now. Okay. It sounds good. >> All right. Try and keep your head just a little more still. Okay. You're moving it a tiny bit. You're doing good. Just keep it as still as you can. Okay. [Music] Okay. You need to blink to wet your eyes or anything? You're doing okay. We're just about done. All right. >> No problem. Okay, now I'm going to go up with it. Okay, so same thing, eyes straight ahead, just looking at the tip of the pen and just your eyes. All right, >> no problem. All right, sounds good. I'm going to let him know what's going on and then we'll move forward with it and uh everything. >> Everything's okay. Yeah. Yeah, everything's okay. Yeah, we're just going to do a >> You can do more. You can keep going. Yeah. >> And vertical. >> Um Vanessa, I I know you said you were DD, but uh >> based on patrolling the Fazio's test, it does seem like you had something to drink. You >> like earlier? >> How much? >> Like literally like a shot before we left the house and that's typically it. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I I want to keep us safe. So, I truly don't believe myself. >> That's the goal is to keep everyone safe, right? >> Literally, that's all I'm worried about. >> Yeah. Yeah, I hear you. You just want to get home safe, right? >> Yeah. >> Um so, just based on his his uh his test and what he saw. Um I am going to do a couple more tests to make sure you're okay. Okay. >> Uh it's going to be like a walking and turning test where you walk in a straight line, you turn, come back. >> Okay. >> Um and then you raise one leg, you you balance. Um have you ever been put through this test before? >> No. >> Okay. Have you ever seen any? >> This has never happened. So, it makes me a little nervous. I'm not going to lie. >> Okay. No, I understand you're nervous. Um, but we'll get through this quickly. Um, I'm going to just give you instructions on how to do it, demonstrate it to you, and then I'm going to have you perform it. Okay. Um, >> just give me one moment. If you can just hang on the sidewalk for me, okay? >> Yeah. No problem. >> Thank you. Yo, >> look. Sidewalk's okay. >> Sidewalk's okay. >> All right. >> Oh, yeah. >> Um, Vanessa. >> Yeah. >> If you can just stand right here for me, um, right where I'm standing, facing that direction. >> I got you. Uh, and then I'm going to demonstrate to you the test, the first test I want you to do. >> Yeah. >> Uh, this one's pretty much a walk and turn. Um, so first thing I want you to do, >> um, do you have any medical conditions that would affect your ability to balance or perform this test? No. Okay. >> Um, first thing I want you to do is to stand with your right foot in front of your left, touching heel to toe. >> Um, and you're going to keep your hands at your side this whole time. Um, and stay in this position until I tell you to start the test. Okay? >> So, you can do that now. Right foot in front of your left >> touching heel to toe. >> And just >> I'm in sandals. So >> what' you say? >> I'm in sandals. So >> Okay, I understand. >> I have flat feet. >> If you want to, you can take them off. Whatever you think would be easiest and whatever you're comfortable doing. >> I should be okay. >> Okay. So, just remain in this position until I demonstrate the test and give you the instructions and then I'll tell you when to begin. Um, just keep your hands at your side for me. Um, when I tell you to begin, you're going to take nine steps uh forward. I'm going to show you. Just stay there. So, it's going to be nine steps like this. You're going to count out loud. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9. When you get to your ninth, you're going to take a series of small steps with one foot just like this, keeping that other foot in place. And you're going to take nine steps back. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. >> Uh, just remember with this test, keep your arms to your side >> and you got to count out loud. Make sure you're touching your uh your heels to your toes and walking in a straight line. >> No problem. >> Okay. Any questions? >> No. >> All right. You can begin. 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 >> Okay. Um this other test is just a one leg stand. So, um, any medical conditions that would affect your ability to stand on one leg? >> No. >> Okay. Um, >> not typically good at this in yoga. >> All right, I got you. Um, until I tell you to begin begin, just stand with your feet together, your arms at your side, and just remain in this position. Uh, when I tell you to begin, I just want you to raise one foot off the ground, just like this, >> approximately 6 in off the ground. You want to keep your foot level to the sidewalk. Keep your hands at your side and count 100 1,002 1003 1004 and so on until I tell you to stop. Okay? So, you're going to wait till I tell you to begin and then put your foot down when I tell you to stop. >> Okay. Any questions? >> No. >> No. Okay. Uh, hold on one second. >> Got time for me. >> All right. You can begin. Just make sure you're counting out loud. >> Oh, sorry. 1,00 1,002 Sorry. 1,003 100,004 1006 1007 Sorry. >> It's okay. Keep going. >> 1001,002. >> Okay, you can stop. Thank you. Sorry. >> All righty. Just hang tight for one second. >> Clearly failed. >> Yeah, I'll test you. >> What'd you get? >> HGN double check. >> Yeah, for sure. >> It was a fail. Um, >> you want to do DHN or you want to do it? >> Uh, you mind doing it? >> I don't mind. >> Thank you. >> Ma'am, I'm just going to do that first eye test again with you. >> Yeah, of course. >> You have no medical problems with your eyes? >> No, I do wear glasses and I do have to go to the doctor again cuz I need a new prescription. >> Okay. All right. Um, >> yeah. >> So, what you going to do? Let's just stand back here a little bit away from the car. >> Yeah, of course. >> Can you face me? Mhm. >> Just like this way. >> I got you. >> See the tip of my pen here? >> I'm sorry. Real quick, I want you to put your feet together on your side like this. Okay. >> Stay in this position. >> See the tip of my pen here? >> I want you to follow with your eyes and your eyes only. Do not move your head. Do you understand? >> Yes. [Music] Keep staring at them. Okay, you can relax. >> I'm six. >> Yeah, I'm good. Okay. All right. Um, Vanessa, just turn around for me. You are going to be placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. All right. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Never happened to me before. Just just so you're aware, this is a a quick process where we go inside, we process you, and then you get released. >> Um, >> how long does that typically take? >> Could be an hour inside, and then you have to have someone get come pick you up. Someone that's sober and an adult. >> Um. >> Oh my god. >> Yeah. I'm sorry. It's unfortunate, but you know, it is what it is. >> Just turn around for me. >> Yeah. Yeah. No. Can you give me some light? >> Yeah. >> What's that? >> I know. It's very unexpected usually, but >> like he said, we'll >> Yeah, we'll be quick. We'll be good with you. You're very right. So, nothing to worry about. >> Is there any like >> uh Yes. Do you have a phone in the car? >> Yes. >> Okay. Want me to grab it for you? >> If you could, I would be much appreciated. >> Okay. Just hang tight here for one sec. Don't Don't hop in yet. >> Of course. >> Um we'll grab the phone for you. That way you have it and you can call whoever you need to to come pick you up. >> Just not sure if they're home, so I have to check. Um, >> all right. You can jump in, Vanessa. >> Yeah, no problem. >> Just your phone. Anything else that you need out of the car? >> Just my phone. Um, I'm assuming I don't like ID or anything. No, I I have your ID still. >> Sorry. A little tight. >> It's going to be a little uncomfortable. It's It's a quick ride. >> Um if you could get my ID, you should be sure. Well, my ID you already have. And then my um my phone bag. >> All right. All righty. Just hang tight for a few minutes and we'll we'll get you on your way. Thank you. >> Can I just speak to my friend before I go? >> You want to speak to her? >> Yes. >> Yeah. Yeah, I'm going to ask her to come over here and talk to you. >> Thank you so much. >> Just hold on. >> They were It was very purple. >> It was what? >> H. She's got a ride coming. >> Very prevalent. >> H was very prevalent. >> Okay. >> She seems very indifferent, which makes me think she's highly intoxicated. >> Yeah. I have an odor coming from her. >> Oh, you do? Okay. I wasn't. >> I know I got one, too. >> I didn't get it, but I'm also >> Well, they're selling her. >> Yeah. Uh, you advise the passenger? >> Yeah, she she's home for a ride right now. >> Okay. She uh wants to talk to the passenger. Is that okay if she comes back and talks to her? >> What does she need to talk to? >> I don't know. Probably about the car. I'll ask her. >> Okay. I see. >> Vanessa, what do you want? Is there something you want us to tell the uh the passenger in the car? Is there any way she can come over or >> I mean she's in the car and she's trying to get a ride because the car is going to be towed. >> Um, >> okay. >> Yeah. So, is there something you need us to tell her? >> No, I was literally going to tell her to call her brother. >> Call her what? >> To call her brother. >> Okay. Yeah, I can tell her to call her brother and I'll grab your phone from her. Okay. >> I would appreciate it. >> All right. Just hang tight. Ma'am, is her phone in here? >> Um, yeah. My brother, >> what' you say? >> To get her? >> To get me? >> Oh, to get you. Okay. She did say, uh, she wants you to call your brother, but you know, already did. >> I did. >> Um, any questions for us? >> Um, is everything okay? >> Yeah. So, she she was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated based on the test we had. Um, so it's a quick process inside. She will uh just get processed. She'll get some tickets and uh she'll be released >> uh probably within an hour. It'll have to be to a sober adult. >> Okay. >> That's the one uh stipulation the state has is she gets signed out pretty much. >> Okay. >> Um by someone who's willing to sign her out um and they have to be sober and have a license. >> Okay. And um my car is going to be in >> So that's another thing with the state too. They require the car that's being operated by the person who's under the influence to be impounded for um 12 hours. So >> cuz um so we'll be going to work at 1. So I can get in the car after. >> Yeah. So it will be impounded for 12 hours. So um we can figure that out though after this. You have a ride coming though? >> My brother's coming. Okay. Everything is okay. >> Everything's good. Yeah. >> All right. Just hang tight. Uh these other officers are here if you have any questions. Okay. >> All right. I'm going to head back with her. >> All right. >> You okay? >> They're just a little uncomfortable. It's okay. >> When I tell you we are a minute and a half drive away from our place, it'll be quick. >> That's fine. I've never been in handcuffs in my life, which is good. Yes. Very good. Um, it's just a little shocking, that's all. cuz I honestly she feels fine. I've This is the first time I'm ever driving her car. >> Okay. >> Um so I was just bringing us literally like not even 10 minutes home. >> I got you. >> And then her brother was going to bring us home. Bring me home cuz I don't have my car right now. >> Yeah. >> This never happened to me before. >> Nothing other than cell phone, right? >> Huh? >> Nothing other than your cell phone that you need. >> And my bag maybe if she >> What kind of bag is it? It's literally just a black pocket book. Um, >> black pocket book. >> I literally only need my phone. >> If you can keep your bag, if you trust your friend with your bag, that's probably best she can. >> That's fine. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Um, I would only need my phone. Naturally, I am in so in shock right now. I can cry. I could literally cry. >> I have a question. >> Yeah. What's up? This is a ticket that I would have to like go to court for. >> Yeah, you'll go to court for it. It's a It's a ticket at the end of the day. You'll go to court for it. You'll work it out. >> This is really unfortunate. >> It is. It is. >> You good, sir? >> Yeah, I'm good. Thank you. >> Does he have my phone already? >> I have your phone, ma'am. >> Yeah. >> Thank you so much. >> All right. >> Oh my god. 43 start [Music] 44157 618 [Music] [Music] [Music] Just watch your step. [Music] Uh, let me grab that bracelet. >> Uh, you can stand up for me. I'll take the the cuffs off. [Music] Hold on one second. >> All right. You going to take a seat? >> You okay? >> Yeah. >> You're not the most comfortable room. I'm sorry. >> All right. We just need to get some through some paperwork real quick and then we'll get you out of here. >> Thank you. >> Uh do you have any are you chewing gum or anything like that currently? Um, just show you have to just uh show me your tongue. Lift your tongue. Okay. >> All right. Um, I have a couple things I have to ask you. I have to advise you of your rights, stuff like that. Uh, I'll take inventory of your property in including any jewelry or anything you have on you. >> Okay. >> Um, shouldn't be much. Shouldn't be hard because you don't have like a wallet or cash or anything on you right now. Um, >> how do you say your last name? >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> All right. So, I'm going to read you this statement. It's pretty long. It's just this whole page here. And then at the end of it, there's a question. Um, so you have been arrested for driving while intoxicated. Will you submit samples of your breath? >> Yes. >> Okay. I warned you it's pretty long. >> Yeah. Okay, this uh next thing I'm going to read to you is uh your Miranda warning. It's pretty much your rights that you have. Um these uh I'll ask you I'm going to explain them to you. Have you initial that you understand um and then below I'll I'll ask you two questions regarding the rights. >> Uh so you have the right to remain silent, refuse to answer any questions. Do you understand that? >> Yes. >> Okay. Just initial on that first line for me. Uh, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. Do you understand that? >> Okay. Just initial that you understand for me on the first line or second line. Initial for me. If you do not have the money to obtain an attorney, one will be obtained for you at no cost to represent you before the questioning if you so desire. You understand that initial uh the decision to renounce these rights is not final and can be revoked when you so desire before or during questioning. Do you understand that? Just initial. Uh, having this in mind, do you certify that you've been notified of your constitutional rights as so indicated by your initials above and that you understand these rights? >> Okay. >> Just sign for me full signature. Uh, having in mind these rights, do you desire to renounce them and give a voluntary declaration and answer any questions? >> Yeah, >> it's up to you. You don't have to. This is this is the part where you're waving your rights, your um all the rights I just explained to you. Um >> Okay. No. Okay. Good. I just want you want it to be clear and make sure that you understand these and that you understand you don't have to wave. You It's your decision obviously to answer any questions. Do you have any questions for me so far? >> No. >> Okay. Are you a operator? >> Yes. >> Anything? Um just case folder, camera, and um we've just got another like 14 minutes. >> Okay. >> Just going to take electronics out, start your report. >> Yeah, sure. Maybe just a small bag for now. And then she's going to make her >> Did you need everything that's on the person? Uh the jewelry and stuff.
