All right, lean right up here cuz I got all the stuff you just stole that you threw on the ground. >> I didn't throw that on the ground. >> Yeah, it's funny. I got it all on my camera. >> Yeah, you do that. >> That's what I need to say. >> That'll get on this out of your way shortly. All right, have a seat. It's a big room. You have plenty of room to get in. >> All right, I'll get all that out of your way. >> We are pretty bad. No, >> you're not. >> I don't split my hand. >> Knees to your chest. >> Knees to your chest. >> All right, stand up. >> Okay. >> Oh, my leg. Hold on. >> You got to stand up. >> My leg. We'll get you looked at, but I got to get you in the car for now. Okay. >> Okay. Yep. >> Just have a seat in there. >> All right. Let's see about getting you in there. Come on. I got to shut the door. >> Okay. I'm trying to get in. >> Just my leg. >> You all right if I push you back? Where's it hurt? Down here. >> Down here. Up here. >> I'm going to slide you back. Okay. >> Ready? >> Where? Right here. >> Yes. >> It's my thigh. >> Okay. >> Use your left foot. Slide back as much as you can. Okay. I'll get the uh off. >> Oh my god. Lift your hands up for me. >> Ready? >> Yes. I'm going to get the drone out. You want to sit with her? >> Not at all. I just got here. >> Where you live at? >> Why are you guys down here? >> Can you see me? >> H I don't know. They >> Okay. Anyway, um is there any way I could call my kids father and let them know what's going on? >> Yeah, they'll let you use the phone in the jail. >> Right here. Okay. >> You want to tell them what you got going on? >> Yes. >> What's going on? >> My leg. I can't move it. When you wreck the car, >> which which leg you get? >> That's for sure. >> Okay. >> Feel like my head is split like I'm going to pass out. right now. >> What kind of necklace are you having right now? What? >> Yes, sir. >> So far, we got uh dizziness, head pain, and right leg say just having trouble. >> Okay. What happened? >> Oh, right in the house. >> Oh, I didn't know that. I'm sorry. >> Car's down there if you can't see it. >> All right. >> Hey, uh Paul, I get a report back on him. Thank you. >> Okay. So, how you feeling right now? We are about you. >> Yes, sir. >> All right. All right. Well, I'm going have to get these and fine. Okay. >> Should I be concerned about any violence with her? >> No. >> What happened? 15 cars later in a helicopter, we caught them. We caught them because they can't really drive very well and they drove the car off into a pond on the other side of BP. So, they all had to swim to us. So, whatever else I I the way I understood it from the call, there was more stuff. They'd been coming in and out. So more than one trip. >> So if it's the group that we are thinking of. I don't know if our loss prevention has been in contact with Flaggler County. >> Not that I'm aware of. I'm new to this call. >> Okay. Um >> I just happen to be right here and it happens. Great timing. >> They're like, "Hey." They're walking out of the store and I'm like, "Hey, I see them." And as soon as I turn >> Who called? >> Uh some some gentleman had seen it and he even tried to help me stop the car. Yes, he I saw him in the parking lot. Yes. Yes. >> Okay. So, I will try to find out who he is and get a hold of him. I tried to call thinking it was y'all's loss prevention. >> So, good Samaritan. >> Yes. >> Wow. Okay. So, there's definitely been a group. We We've got large lots and lots of groups. And there's one particular group in particular, I guess, that it's been coming weekly. And I I wasn't out there to confirm if this was the same group or not, >> but our loss prevention was we were told if they come, it doesn't matter the dollar cuz we have to call only when it's a certain dollar amount to report it. So that way time >> um >> between that and and if they did make several trips in and out like was being said, >> then there's a bunch more in the car. It's going to get towed and taken to when they get it out of the pond. >> It's going to get towed and taken to Yeah. Hey, you got to see the back of my car. One of the ladies I I cuffed and put her in the back of my car. My car's underwater, soaked just from her drenched. So, the biggest thing is right now what we need to do is do start our statements. I guess most important to start off with, we need a value. >> Can you create a value with this >> and then >> also what you might have seen in the camera? >> So, we can't go back and look at cameras, but we can certainly She was getting ready to write a report. Walked in. [laughter] I was almost done. >> I wasn't out there, but I'm going to go watch the sales story. >> Yeah, this was the collection. >> Well, hopefully this will >> they took from the front table. We just don't know. They filled up two baskets and a tote. It was a tall, skinny black guy, right? Did he have a tote? >> So, when I was already in the car, >> when I came out, he was driving and the two ladies were the ones that were hustling for the car. >> Yep. Yep. So, it was the three of them. Um, yeah. The guy was driving, he's the one that took all the ceilings. They were just kind of walking around the store. >> Okay. So they did come in and out. >> Yeah. >> They didn't multi how many times? >> So I only saw them today once. One time two baskets. That was all I saw today. That was it. >> And if it's the group that we're thinking of and you have them, I will give you our um loss preventions information cuz there's a >> I'll need just need them and and we will help. Absolutely. I just need to see if we can get uh video. >> This was only a portion of what they took today. So, you figured they had a basket and this, right? >> They had two of our shopping baskets. This probably filled up the half of one that I saw and then the other one was >> the one lady I think she she threw something into the car, but it was like >> So, I wasn't paying attention except for they're all I'm trying to figure out what car they're running for. So, I'm I'm not really focused on what she had. The one girl, Amanda, she dropped this like just like that. And I was like, "Oh, okay." And I I don't know from there if the other lady cuz I look back. So I don't know if the other lady chunked something in the car. So chances are there's a lot in the car. Maybe from this store, maybe from other stores. >> Oh yeah, they they they make their >> We're impounding it. So it'll go to our lot. >> Hey everyone, it's Trent, pirate deputy sheriff, patrol sergeant, and K9 handler. Retail theft crews like this have become a major issue. They will often hit high-V value items fast, wear a mask to conceal their identities, work in teams in order to overwhelm loss prevention, sometimes law enforcement, and not to mention the fact that they can clear out shells worth of merchandise in mere seconds. And one of the suspects attempts to back toward the deputy in an attempt to flee the area. And at that point in time, it's no longer just about the stolen merchandise. It becomes an officer safety issue, as well as the potential use of a vehicle as a weapon. And when law enforcement utilizes something like stop sticks or a spike strip or some other vehicle immobilization device, they will evaluate and assess the situation in the totality of the circumstances, meaning what crimes have been committed and the overall threat to public safety. And they determine to utilize the stop six in order to get that pursuit stopped due to the fact that the suspects had committed multiple felony level crimes and it was reported that they were driving incredibly recklessly, weaving through traffic, not obeying traffic safety laws. But this is a prime example of why some of these retail theft cases can turn into something larger and substantially more dangerous. >> The man and the two women were charged with grand theft, possession of anti-shoplifting devices, and resisting law enforcement officers, but remain innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Next up is the suspect who allegedly violated a stalking no contact order with her landlord and is now facing a police warrant. >> I'm fine. May I help you? >> Yeah. Can you come here real quick? >> Okay. Um I don't know you guys. So >> you do? >> No, I don't know you like that. I got >> Okay. Can Is your >> Can you scoot back, please? >> Yeah. Is your mom here? >> Yeah, she's here sleeping. No, she's not. She just woke up. >> Okay. Can you come out here real quick so we can chat? Sure. I don't know you though. >> No, I don't know you. I don't know you that well, though. >> Okay. So, Estelle, >> yes. >> We have an arrest warrant for your arrest. >> Okay. I can't go to jail. I I resist arrest. I have a son. You cannot >> I have to resist arrest. I have a son. >> Please place your hand on your back. Estelle, you're under arrest. >> I have a son. >> I have a son. I'm not leaving my son. Let go. Don't hurt me. >> Estelle, stop. Don't resist. You're under arrest. I'm I'm resisting arrest. I have a son. >> Put her on the No, don't hurt me. Do not hurt me. I HAVE A SON. Don't resist. >> Don't resist. >> I have Don't Let go of me. LET GO. I HAVE A SON. I HAVE A SON. I NEED MY I HAVE A SON. LET GO OF ME. >> LET'S GO. >> I have a son. >> Don't resist. >> Let go of me. Let go of me. I have a MOTHER SON. LET GO OF ME. DON'T YOU DARE. TELL HER. >> I have a son that was If you TOUCH MY SON, MOM, >> LET GO OF ME. >> LET GO OF ME. I'M NOT GOING TO HURT YOU. I'M HANDCUFFED. ESTELLE, STOP. >> LET GO OF ME. You need to stop resisting. >> You know what? >> Lan 81, one female in custody. >> You're not going to hurt me. I'm already cuffed. >> We're not going to hurt you. You need to stop resisting. >> Stop resisting. Okay. >> Okay. Thank you. Okay. We're going to set you up. Okay. >> We're going to stand you. Okay. >> Okay, that's fine. >> Let me just Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. >> My son Can you listen to me? Can you hear me out? I have a son. HE WAS I CANNOT LEAVE HIM. >> I'm telling you this now. Not safe. Neither is No one's safe enough. He was You're not listening to me. Okay. >> Do not touch. Let go of me. >> I'm I'm >> I have the right to resist arrest. I'M AN ADULT. YOU GUYS ARE NOT MY AUTHORITY FIGURES. You're not I don't even know if you really have real credentials. I >> You want to show you the the >> No, it doesn't mean I don't care. For what? >> You're full of >> Yes, you are. >> Let's not listen. >> One thing I know you better not me. You better not shoot. >> We're not going to shoot. Okay. Here. We're good. We're good. We're good. We're >> Let go of me. >> I am the colonel. >> Stop. >> I am the colonel. I'm resistant. YES. [laughter] I DON'T CARE. I DON'T CARE >> FOR VIOLATING A CIVIL NO >> NO STALKING ORDER AGAINST WHO? WHO COMES HERE? NO. HE IS A CHILD SIGNED BY A JUDGE. >> OKAY. I OKAY. This is what I'm saying. I know. I can't say I RESIST. YOU GUYS ARE FORCING ME, BUT I RESIST ARREST. >> You cannot resist. >> I Yes, I can. I CAN SAY I DON'T WANT TO BE ARRESTED. YOU'RE MAKING ME LEAVE MY SON. I RESIST ARREST. I AM THE COLONEL. I AM. NO, I AM. NO, it doesn't matter. SHE NO, SHE'S NOT SAFE. SHE'S NOT STABLE ENOUGH TO TAKE MY SON. OKAY, >> THAT'S MY SON. YOU CANNOT TAKE ME AWAY FROM MY CHILD. >> WELL, then we're going to have to CONTACT DCF. >> NO. NO. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHO DC I DON'T KNOW THESE PEOPLE. YOU'RE NOT TAKING MY SON AWAY FROM ME. >> OKAY, WE'RE GOING TO BRING YOU >> I AM THE COLONEL CHIEF OFFICER. I'M JOINED AS A COLONEL CHIEF OFFICER STILL BADASS. LET ME GO. You're taking me AWAY FROM MY SON. LET ME GO. LET ME GO. Let me go. >> Let me go. Let me go. You're going to my son. You better not. You better not my son. Get my purse. Get my >> We will talk to your mother and get your stuff. You need your purse. >> You run the script. >> Okay, hold on. >> Check her. Make sure she's got nothing weapon OUT OF MY FACE. I'M THE YOU'RE LYING son of a >> That's you is. IF Y'ALL TOUCH MY SON, I SWEAR TO GOD. Don't Yeah, that's what he is. Yeah. Shut the up. Don't grab me. Get going down. >> I have a paper. I'm just going to run up front. If you want to just hang here. I'm going to run up front. Just send that back to >> Okay, everyone. It's Trent, prior deputy sheriff, patrol sergeant, and K9 handler. This case just shows how a simple warrant service can turn into a physical struggle. These officers were there to arrest the suspect for a warrant that she had because it had been alleged that she had violated a no contact restraining order where her landlord was the protected party. And as we see, almost the moment these officers told the suspect she was under arrest, she became physically resistive and stated that she had the right to resist them. So, she might have the choice to resist these officers in this situation. However, she is not free from consequence for choosing to do so. And anytime law enforcement has to go hands-on with a suspect like this that's actively resisting, pulling away, twisting, especially in a confined area, the risk of injury escalates tremendously. And that's why these officers are trying to control the suspect in the manner that they are. It's not a form of punishment. It's an attempt to try to prevent that potential injury to all parties involved. And resisting law enforcement doesn't always have to look like somebody actively throwing punches or kicks. In most cases, this is exactly what it's going to look like. >> She was charged with resisting or obstructing a peace officer and held on an injur warrant for violating a stalking no contact order, but remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
