That's I don't think it. >> According to the investigation, Macy told authorities that Scott started going for it when he saw the officers. The officer told investigators he fired because he believed Scott was closing the distance between them and feared he was going to be stabbed. >> Hi, I'm Charlie. I'm a medic with Mayo. I'm going to be taking care of you. Okay. How are you doing right now? >> Not great. I imagine. >> Is that his phone there? Can you tell me what year it is? >> 2026. >> Okay. We're going to help you. Phone the hospital, wherever hospital they go to. Okay. I already made a phone call, so we got other people coming. We'll get everything figured out. >> Secure this. The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division and Criminal Investigation investigated the shooting, interviewing witnesses, including the officer, Scott and Macy, and reviewing body camera footage. After the shooting, Scott reportedly told an officer he was sorry and said, "My plan was never to hurt him. It was for him to hurt me." >> They need a handcuff relief for society maybe. Why? >> Cuz they're doing the AMT class. >> It's okay if No. >> Um, yeah. You can look on this side. I'm going to look on that side. >> Work from there. >> How are you doing? >> Yeah, I imagine. >> The Douglas County District Attorney ultimately determined that the officer was legally justified in using deadly force. The report states the officer fired only as many times as necessary to stop the threat and stopped once the threat was neutralized. The DA also addressed Macy being struck, explaining that Wisconsin's self-defense law can extend to unintended harm to a third party as long as the officer's actions were not criminally reckless or negligent. The final determination was that the officer reasonably believed Scott posed an imminent threat of death or serious injury and that his actions were not criminally reckless or negligent. No criminal charges were filed against the officer. Thanks for watching and remember to hit like, subscribe, and turn on all notifications so you never miss a new upload.
