He immediately noticed the interior was filled with hot air actively blasting out of the dashboard vents. Paramedics rushed 13-month-old Imani to Piedmont Newton Hospital, but after nearly an hour of CPR, she couldn't be saved. Her body temperature reached 107° with cause of death listed as hyperthermia. That's when detectives stepped in to figure out what really happened. Two days later, on October 12th, Ariel Osby was brought into the Newton County Sheriff's Office for questioning. Investigators walked her through the timeline of events from the day her daughter died. >> I don't know if you remember me, but I was I'm sorry to catch you at this crime scene. And obviously you know we investigated what happened here. She ate and you know, made me put her change change her outfit to go to the pumpkin patch. She did not want the straw, but this is the clothes. And I got her dress, and a pink shirt, white socks, and her hard bottom hard bottom socks, and I put a black bib. And I put on a bib, purple and white bib with a pacifier, purple pacifier. >> And that was just attached? >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. What time did you leave the house then? >> We left the house around 6:30 a.m. >> Around 6:30? Okay. >> Ariel establishes her early morning routine, painting a normal picture of getting 13-month-old Imani dressed and leaving the house by 6:30 a.m. >> I was early. I was early. So, um I did stop to eat the food. I did stop. And I um looked over at Imani from the front seat, and she was very She was awake, but she was just like kicking her feet. She wasn't upset or anything like that. And um we sat there for a little bit while I ate. Um I packed her car seat. I let her know that I was going to be away, and we did sit there until it got closer to time to go. And then her house is a 4-minute walk away. >> Where did you stop to eat? >> Um it was by a tire shop and a daycare center and a daycare center in the um it was off in not far from the cemetery. Um you go There's a gas station on There's two gas stations. Um the Chevron and then that one is a Chevron. There's a Chevron, there's another gas station, and then if you go straight this way, there is the the It is the auto shop or a shop, there's a daycare in there. And then on the street name I just I >> At a four-way stop? >> Yeah, but that was a four-way stop. >> After stopping for McDonald's, Aerial claims she pulled over nearby to eat, insisting Imani was awake, calm, and kicking her feet in the car seat. And you said you texted your client? >> Yes. >> Do you remember about what time it was you texted her? >> Her phone was at 10:00 p.m. Like 10:20 p.m. >> And about what time did you get to the house? >> I got to the house at 10:00. >> Did you call the police? >> I got to the house >> Right right right right at 10:00 and she was laying out. She was playing hide and go seek. >> And normally when I clean the house for five hours, it would take me almost an hour to clean and I finished early. Um And then Imani was not back in the car. She was awake when we got in the car. >> She claims she finished cleaning her client's house hours early and put Imani right back into the car. When you finished around 2:00, um what happened after that? And what did you do after that? >> Um I loaded Imani into the car, loaded my cleaning supplies and I pulled up a little bit. I pulled up pulled up a little bit and I just sat there. Um I was on my phone when Um Imani was making a little bit of noise, but not too much. And I was on my phone Mhm. And then I left. Um at this point I was um going down I guess we just passed 12. >> 1162? >> 152 uh past the cemetery. >> Mhm. >> And um >> Is that where you where you stopped, pulled over, or >> Yeah no no. I'm going to backtrack. I pulled up at the beginning of the subdivision. >> Okay. >> Because I did when I went and I got out of the car to put the bag that I had that I was supposed to put in the truck. I got up, put the bag in the trunk, flipped over the seat and I didn't want to. And her eyes that's what I remember most her eyes and there was mucus coming out of her nose. And I immediately said Imani and I rushed around to the side of the car, pulled open the door, quickly tried to unbuckle her and I'm screaming her name and her name and I'm taking off her jacket and I'm like It's hot. It's hot. And I take off her clothes. I run back around to the front seat because that's where my phone is and I'm like I'm calling hey Siri call 911. Hey Siri call 911. And Siri for whatever reason was not responding. And I'm still I'm in the front seat. I have her and I'm Imani and I'm trying to blow in her but I I I don't know baby CPR. But I'm blowing in her mouth. I'm trying to stick my finger in and and I'm trying to turn on the air cuz I'm like it's hot and I can't figure out how to turn on the air. I didn't think to roll down the windows. And so I turn on the car and I start driving a little way up past the cemetery and I stop and I finally get not get my phone and I call 911 and I'm screaming on the phone to the 911. I don't know I can't tell them where I'm I'm in a panic. I can't I remember yet the lady was like I can't help you if I don't know where you are and I'm screaming. I don't know where I am and I'm like I can find out where I am. I'm going to try to pull up but I didn't have enough service and I'm trying to pull it up and then I saw this man in the in the black truck coming towards us. And so I'm flagging them down. I'm like, I need you to grab my baby. He grabbed my baby from me. I said, "She's not breathing." I kept saying she's not breathing. And it happened everything happened so fast. They From one minute there was another lady and then another lady and they The man had him out here and I had I had took her pants off. I was just undressing her. I was I was scared. And then there was a black lady with braids and she was laughing. And she knew CPR and she took her pulse. I didn't know where to check her pulse besides her chest and she said there's a faint pulse and by the time the paramedics arrived, they were, you know, they were holding me back. There was a police officer. She was holding me back. They were trying to get me to calm down. They were calling my mom. They were calling Deja. It was so much going on. And for an hour from the moment they got there until we got to the hospital, which I think it was in a whole hour, they worked on my baby. And the doctor told me that her her heart stopped beating an hour ago. She said when I called 911, that's when >> While Ariel describes a sudden medical emergency after finishing her job, Sergeant Kitchens is quietly pinning down her exact timeline. >> Let me back up just a second. Now, you said that you you left out of the out of the Japanese little class house. >> I didn't realize I didn't >> You you pulled up and that that's fine. You pulled up. I didn't mean to do it. I knew I wasn't going to be in there long. >> You said you left her at 1:32? >> Yeah, at 1:32 o'clock. >> What if I told you that was incorrect and I have proof that you left at 3:24 this morning? So, you were in the house from nothing till 10:00 a.m. till almost 3:30 and you said that's not a long time for a 13-month-old to be in a car? Do you know that? >> Do you know what? I didn't mean to I think It It's the right It wasn't on purpose.
