we've got multiple angles stay with us if you've seen this before because we've got new data and records and can go a little more in depth and exactly what happened and take a deep dive into why this happened i'm going to tell you right now a lot of factors had to go wrong to bring us to this point let's take a look first thing for this driver going through on the green light if you watch it again you'll see they were screened by not one but two cars on their left so as they're coming up to the intersection they absolutely cannot see that oncoming squad car and they have no indicators the the opticon has not triggered yet the only indication they might have is that the two cars to the left are not going through on a green light when i was in the police academy a long time ago we were trained that when it came to clearing intersections you clear an intersection lane by lane by lane it's not an all or nothing thing you go one lane after another after another now in the real world it's easy to fall into bad habits two other things to call out real fast number one is the impact is on the back quarter panel of the vehicle that's like the perfect spot to spin this vehicle out or have it roll over and the second thing again just by chance just thinking about how unlucky they are is there's a curb that the left rear wheel on the squad struck which helped it yaw and ultimately tip over so it's the location of the impact from the car combined with striking that little outset of the curb that ultimately contributed had to happen in order for this vehicle to roll over you're okay [Music] so there's a chance to listen to the dispatch audio now we can kind of argue back and forth who's at fault here ultimately my guess i'm not 100 sure but my guess is both the driver and the police officer are unlucky they got hit by happenstance the real person at fault is the person that blatantly ran the red light that started this series of events i want to call out the driver who put his hands up over his head when he got out of the vehicle my heart sank when i saw that from these videos i don't think he's criminally at fault i don't know i felt sad when i saw his reaction like that but you heard the officer the officer in the squad car she says it's okay buddy it's okay you're okay bud you're okay bud and a quick note the driver makes reference that the opticon was not flashing you'll see him here he looks right where the opticon would be he talks about it flashing it was not flashing he's pointing out the opticon was not flashing if you want to know more about these we've got a whole video up on it and i'm putting it up on the top corner now the most important piece is the condition of the officer so we've pulled out the best audio regarding the rescue and the dispatch audio and impact in fact we even got the back seat video of this squad as it turns upside down that's at the very end take a listen and put yourself in this officer's shoes no one deserves to have a job where they're facing injury every day yeah i can move my feet all right hang in there we're going to get you out of here [Music] here we go [Music] [Music] in a crash upside down extrication emergency i'm married 12. you might see this [ __ ] squad over up right now coming we'll get ambulances
