my name is John Gabaldon I'm the village Allison Asst fire chief it's a Rosenbauer ladder truck it's a hundred and one foot aerial platform five hundred gallon tank with a two thousand gallon per minute pump and it was paid for by a general obligation bond that was approved in 2016 by the village primary use is for reach - to be able to get two commercials businesses and also residential homes we can we can utilize this to safely extinguish fires that are you know maybe in the center of a home that we wouldn't been able to get in the past it's they might be too unsafe for us to maybe climb up on a roof or we're unable to actually get water into that seed of that fire because of reach you know you a lot of times when you're fighting fire from the ground you don't really know where you're shooting that fire so this way it gives us the aerial perspective of it we could shoot down inside of it on the tip of the ladder it has cameras it has a regular camera and a thermal imager camera that we can actually see from the ground behind the truck and actually from the turntable where the aerial ladder moves around we can see the the cameras from there and actually see where we're spraying the water and find those heat signatures as were you doing it what it means to us is that our community is very progressive our our City Council and our mayor is very progressive they want to make sure they have they've really taken safety to the fullest and they are they recognize the need and they want to make sure our community has what it needs to to have to be safe here and actually function within our community as a whole comfortably knowing that this equipment is available to them 24 hours a day I appreciate that all the support we've received from the community you know without this we couldn't this would not be possible and you go into a build there you get these spec sheets and and we joke about it but you you go through like imagine an excel sheet that has 100 pages and if you make a change on page 40 you affect 30 other pages before that you have to go back and do it again so it it has everything we need for today and for the future we hope we when we went through and we built this we weren't only thinking about what we what we need and now we're thinking about the potential for the future
