today we did a track workout and we basically did three sets of eight hundreds which is two laps around the track i instructed the cadets to get around the track two times as fast as they could the reason we do this is it builds up their endurance time them on their mile and a half about five different times throughout the academy and doing this really helps with that anaerobic speed as well as prepares them for foot chases big part of police work and part of their training here i also focus a little bit more on stretching obviously injury prevention throughout this six month academy is very important and so keeping their muscles flexible preventing injuries is is definitely a goal today way to finish martinez good job class attention today's uh monday april 30th beginning of week 4 for the 107th cadet class today they're beginning their day off with a test basically the way the tests work around here this will be their second one it covers anything that we've discussed over the previous couple of weeks so this this test that they're having today is basically over the last week of instruction that they had the way our tests are set up are to prepare them for the police officer proficiency exam that they have to take at the end of the year or the end of the six months that they're here and that's basically what the tests are are set up for while they're here they have to maintain a 80 average or they go on to academic probation um if they're on academic probation excuse me they are placed on a pip which is a performance improvement program just to get their their standing a little bit higher we work on them as far as their study habits getting them with stronger cadets or assisting them with improving their their note-taking habits and like i said it's just to prepare them for for the end of cycle test that they have to take to become a law enforcement officer
