Still breathing and all that stuff right now. My hand hurts. My hand hurts. All victims made full recoveries from their stab wounds and the suspect, Leonardo, was charged with two counts of attempted murder with a weapon, fleeing, eluding, and resisting without violence. Court records indicate that approximately 2 years later, he took a plea deal, pleading guilty to attempted seconddegree murder and three other charges. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison, followed by 5 years of probation. The officer outside already locates blood. So, you already know that this one was off the rails before the first officer even arrived because he had stabbing victims and a possible language barrier, and the suspect was gone. Now, other units did have eyes on the suspect, but he wasn't slowing down. This call was already loaded with emotion and danger, but when that call turns into a blood bath, every second feels like an hour. And at this point, the medics were not there yet. And in that kind of trauma, minutes matter. That delay, no matter the cause, only fused the anger and helplessness of family members watching their loved ones possibly bleed out. Now, officers did close in on the suspect, and he was caught shortly after. But the real battle was back at the house. And this is what cops have to deal with because they have to absorb the rage, fear, and helplessness that comes with certain calls. Cuz imagine trying to get pertinent information out of a distraught family member cuz it's heart-wrenching to watch someone's world fall apart. And I've actually had to turn into a counselor in a moment's notice just to try to calm a person down. Now, the suspect may have been caught, but trust me, the damage was already done. and no arrest and rewind what that family had to endure. And when something like this happens in your own home, you rarely feel safe again.
