Obviously, it's right there in the passenger seat floorboard where you were sitting. Just I just got in the car with him to go to the gas station. That's it. >> Okay. Um >> I have not been in that car long enough to even put really anything in that car. >> Okay. Whose car is it? >> It's his mom's. >> His mom's car. >> Okay. So, what about the in the car? >> I don't even know. >> So, you don't know anything about that? >> Okay. Okay. So, you don't know nothing about the don't know nothing about the gun. >> What are you talking about a gun? >> I'm telling you what I'm talking about. There's a gun in your car right next to you in the center console. It's yours. I'm asking you where you got it. >> So on and so forth. >> Where I got it? What the you talking about? >> So you're saying it's not yours? >> Oh, I haven't never had a leg in my life. >> Okay. So it's going to be sent off for prints. So your prints aren't going to be on those rounds, right? >> What about that spin cell shell casing that's sitting in the passenger driver's seat? That's not yours, too. >> The shell casing, when you shoot a round out of a gun, the shell casing gets ejected from the firearm. There's a spent shell casing on the driver's seat of the car. You don't know nothing about that either, so it probably won't have your prints on it. >> I had people drive my car. >> Oh, yeah. Like who? >> Who? >> Yeah, recently. Who drove your car besides you? >> I don't want to say name. >> You don't want to say name? Okay. Uh, so what about the in the car? Who's that? All right. This isn't going anywhere. Appreciate your cooperation. Well, she got the sitting by her. I can just take him though. It's obviously all a lot of You know, >> I just told him I was like, he saved Summers a lot of paperwork. Well, >> I'm not saying don't take her. >> Well, neither one of them want to claim, aren't you? Sitting at her feet. >> I don't know. Black plastic piece. >> I get enough on there. They both go. That's what I was thinking. >> Look at the difference in the colors there. >> So false. So that's >> Amber, is there anything else you need out of this car besides this purse and this wallet? >> There's a clear tote with my arch stuck in it. Clear. >> This is going to be towed to the Joe's towing. You'll be able to get it out of there. >> Yeah. It's just going to sit there. >> Get it out now. >> No, you're going to jail right now for possession of me. I was at your feet >> because he's not saying it's his. You're saying you don't know. >> Well, he's sitting at your feet. >> I I'm supposed to be working with the Illinois State Police right now. Like, I didn't know if that matters or what. >> Well, you can talk to them about it when you get when you get out of there. I'm sure that if they're working with you, they'll be able to work with you. Well, right now it's sitting at your feet. He's not He doesn't know anything about anything. So, that's that's the way it is. >> Are you serious? >> Yeah, I am serious. >> Even if it's not in my possession, >> man, it was sitting at your feet. >> I didn't know. I I mean I just got in the car. >> Okay. I don't know that, right? I don't understand. >> I understand that, but like it's not >> Well, if you have any other information, I'd be willing to listen. >> I don't know what I don't know what to say. It's not mine. >> I understand that a ride to the store. >> Okay. Um how how do you know him? >> He's a guy I've been talking to. >> Okay. You don't know anything else about him? >> No. >> Where he may have gotten it if you're saying it's >> No, I have no idea. >> You understand where the position I'm in, right? I know he he uses here and there sparingly, but I didn't know like he had this in the car, >> right? >> I had no idea. >> Okay. Um I mean, you understand the position I'm in. >> Yeah. I mean, why like this is I live here. Like, why would I be carrying this around with me if I had it? That's stupid, >> right? Um well, I'm going to write a report about it. If you have any other information, I'm glad to add it. >> I don't know. Do you know if I have a bond? Can I get a number out of my phone? I mean, I >> Where's your phone at? >> I think it's it was in my bag. >> Is it in here? >> I know. It was on the porch. >> Let me make sure you have it before we leave. Is that it right there? >> This. Okay. You can make you can make phone calls. It's fine with me. Sure. Yeah. >> I have no problem with that. Or if you want to wait to go to the jail here, why don't I put those cops in front of you for you? >> Please. Please. Thank you. >> You want to step out for me? >> Like I said, I'm willing to work with anybody and I give you respect. >> Uh but the problem is, you know, I I can't just take people at their word, especially when it's sitting at your feet. And then he's telling me it's not his. >> I had no idea that it was even. It's unfortunate that you were in the car with him. Basically is what's happening. You >> want to have a sit down seat for me, man? >> And then you can make phone calls if you want to. It's totally fine with me. So, it's going to be possession of under 5 g. It's just It's just the pipe with residue and a little bit of powder. Um, so it'll be based on whatever the judge says. All right. >> Whatever the judge says. >> Yeah. You have to see a judge tomorrow morning and then he'll give you a bond. >> So, I won't get a bond tonight? >> No, I don't think so. I believe you'll see a judge in the morning and then they'll give you a bond. >> All right. Yes. Any other questions for me? >> How long y'all been dating? >> Since September. >> If you don't know her last name, >> I know. >> Where's she live at? >> Parker. Parker. Wherever that is. Where we got arrested at? At her house. >> Okay. >> In the driveway. >> Okay. >> Hey everyone, it's Trent, prior deputy sheriff, patrol sergeant, and K9 handler. So, this is what we in law enforcement would call a good stop. Something that was a relatively minor offense up front and then later turned into discovering a lot more serious felony level crimes. One of the main goals of law enforcement is and should be crime prevention. So, getting a gun like this off of the street is always a win, especially since it has the serial number etched off of it. And generally, in my experience, that means it's stolen, was utilized in a crime, sometimes both, and then getting it away from somebody like this suspect. He's under the influence of a controlled substance. And that is definitely a dangerous combo. And because of the totality of the circumstances here, it definitely increases the likelihood that that gun would be used illegally in the future. And of course, these officers are 100% justified in legally searching this vehicle. Have changed over the years. However, most areas still required that it be in a sealed, unopened container, and any loose marijuana still gives law enforcement in a lot of areas the legal justification to search a vehicle in its entirety as well as all of its occupants. But of course, the main focus and what these officers were looking for, they clearly were using it as a reason to get into the vehicle, which is a very common thing to do because if you've been doing that job long enough, you can tell almost right away that there's going to be additional illegal contraband inside of that vehicle. And that's definitely what they were going for here. And just to kind of explain law enforcement charging this female suspect with possession of some of this illegal contraband. So yes, of course, the driver has ultimate care and control over a vehicle. Everything in that vehicle is their responsibility. However, what law enforcement as well as the courts will look at is what the passengers have immediate access to and what is in common areas. It's not going to be looked at the same as if all the guns and drugs were locked in the trunk of a vehicle. And then it's much more plausible that this passenger in the situation would not have knowledge of it or be able to access it. But because that mean was down at her feet and also later when they searched her, they found paraphernalia in her pockets, she's going to have a much more challenging time trying to articulate not knowing that any of that was in there. And this is very common as well when you start a vehicle like this and everybody's denying everything. Sometimes it's just easier and more efficient to charge everybody and then let the courts figure it out. Because of course, both suspects are lying. It's incredibly evident they're not good at it. But that's just how the game gets played. You just have to accept it as a cop. And later on, the male suspect actually did admit that he had knowledge of that pistol being in the center console, of course, and that will later get sent off for fingerprinting. But he said it was his friends, which is a very common excuse as well. And that's going to be it for this one. See you guys in the next one. They were charged with multiple offenses, DUI, resisting arrest, and weapons violations, but remain innocent until proven guilty. [Music] [Music]
