The officer dragged was senior officer Kayla Murray. She reportedly suffered serious injuries, including a concussion, blunt force trauma, and severe road rash. Reporting indicates both officers likely returned to work within a week of the incident. The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Shakoy Donovan. He reportedly was just released from the Florida Department of Corrections not even 3 months prior to this incident after serving prison time for aggravated assault with a weapon without intent to kill and possession of cocaine. According to court records, Donovan was charged with felony attempted murder on a law enforcement officer, felony aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, felony fleeing to elude resulting in injury, two counts of felony resisting with violence, three counts of resisting without violence, reckless driving, [music] failure to yield at a four-way stop intersection, running a stop sign, improper turn in the wrong lane, no or improper turn signal, not wearing a seat belt, not having insurance, operating a vehicle with defective equipment, and operating a gas vehicle that emits visible emissions for more than five continuous seconds. He has since pleaded not guilty to all of his major charges. As his case is ongoing, he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
