1119. >> HEY, IT'S OUT THE WINDOW. OUT THE WINDOW. >> I guess I did lie a little bit. >> But it's been a while. Like, it's been since last night. >> March 28th, 2025, Marathon County, Wisconsin. Shortly after 5:00 p.m., a Marathon County deputy was dispatched after a report involving a mother, later identified as Cali, who had picked up her daughter from school. According to the police report, there was a dispute over whether the mother was permitted to pick up the child. It was later learned that Callie and her daughter had planned the pickup. After receiving a message from the child's guardian to come home, Callie dropped her daughter off and was driving away when deputies attempted to stop her. The deputy reported seeing the vehicle rapidly accelerate and noticed several equipment violations, including a broken tail light and a license plate that was reportedly zip tied to the vehicle and difficult to read. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and approached the vehicle. Malli accelerated away, leading deputies on an 18-mi pursuit through Marathon and Taylor counties with speeds exceeding a 120 mph. After approximately 17.85 mi, the vehicle finally stopped. >> So, I'm just pulling on address. Uh 11927. 117271 827. >> HANDS OUT THE WINDOW. >> HANDS OUT THE WINDOW. >> [ __ ] MOVE. Hands up. [screaming] Hands up. >> HANDS OUT THE WINDOW. >> Deputies learned that Callie's driver's license had already been revoked because of her four previous OWI convictions. Her license carried a 0.02 02 or less alcohol restriction and required an ignition interlock device which she did not have >> later but right now I just need to know we don't have any weapons or injuries or anything crazy. >> Okay. >> Where is your daughter? >> Okay. Just need to know her whereabouts right now and we a lot more questions about that all together later. Other side. Are you the one following me? >> No, that off the rock. I don't know them. Sorry. >> Okay. >> All right. All right. So, we got to step out here and talk about some things. You want to swing your feet out? Step to the back here. So, >> uh maybe a little bit. So, um, a lot of craziness just happened. >> Yeah, I know. >> We we acknowledge that. Um, I am concerned with that we found a boogie bottle in your car and that you are you are in a a state that you should be driving. So, go ahead. That's fine. >> Yeah. You you okay with running through all the tests? >> Sure. Absolutely. >> Okay. All right. Uh, because we got you in handcuffs though, I I do got to I got to read you something before I can ask you questions about all this. So, >> Oh, gosh. Can I put my hair in a ponytail? I'll I'll uncuff you in a second here. You're being cooperative and everything. I just got to read this to you before I can ask any questions. >> All right. >> Okay. So, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. >> You understand all that? >> Are you okay with answering questions that I ask? >> Sure. >> Okay. All right. I'm going to take left cuff off first, then right cuff. After I take one cuff off, just put your hand on top of your head for me. Okay. >> Okay. >> Perfect. All right. Go ahead. Put it on top of your head. Perfect. Then your your name is Cassie. Callie. Okay. And >> same thing with this one. >> Okay. All right. You can turn and face me. Okay. Have you had anything to drink today? >> I'm not going to lie. Yes. I I bottle there. Like as soon as they started chasing me, I took a couple stood off of it. >> Okay. Um and that was as soon as >> it wasn't like as soon it was like I don't know couple minutes after the chase I guess. >> Okay. >> Uh before that when was your last drink? >> Um probably yesterday maybe. >> Yesterday maybe. Okay. Um >> any other substances on board? >> Not as far as I know. >> Not as far as you know. Can you elaborate? Like what do you mean on board? >> Well, like any other drugs, drugs or prescriptions or anything >> inside my bloodstream or >> Yeah, that would affect your driving. >> No. >> No. Okay. Okay. >> I look like I'm baked on my mind or something. I don't know. >> Well, you just experienced a traumatic thing and you you were crying, so I I understand that. All right. Um Okay. I'll be standing with your feet together and your arms on your side just like that for me. Okay. Do you have any issues with your eyes? Any medical issues? >> I'm supposed to wear glasses. >> Supposed to wear glasses. >> Glasses are in the dark. >> Okay. Uh, how far does your vision get bad? Like 10 feet, 20 feet? >> Uh, I'm not even sure. >> Not even sure. >> I don't. >> Um, is this something that just makes traffic signs look better so you don't get a headache kind of kind of vision problems? >> Yeah, I guess. >> Okay. You have no problem seeing something this close to your face? Okay. All right. Good. >> All right. So, for this next test, you're going to follow your finger with my finger with your eyes and your eyes only. You're going to keep your head tilted, and you're just going to follow by looking. Okay. All right. Okay. For this, I I really do need you to hold your head still. Anytime you bob or move, we're just going to have to redo it. It's going to take longer. So, take some deep breaths and let's just focus on this. Do one thing at a time. Yep. just keep your mind on this task and then uh we can deal with the unpleasantness later. Yeah. >> Okay. >> It's easier said than done, huh? >> It is very easy for me to say right now. I I I acknowledge that. >> Okay. >> Well, I I don't tell you the results. Um >> we we have more tests to do here. So, >> fine. >> Um was that bottle full before you started? >> I don't know. >> It was the seal was broken on it. Um, I don't think so. >> You don't think so? >> No. It's just something I was in my car. There's all kinds of [ __ ] in my car. >> So, you don't know how much was in there before you started drinking? >> Wasn't thinking about that? >> Um, nothing to drink. Nothing to drink before today. Okay. All right. Uh, I'll have you step few steps away from my car here. Just just anywhere over here. >> Just so you're not next to my car. All right. Okay. So, this next test we're going to >> Why don't we go past the tunnel? >> Yeah, let's go here. Cody, if you want to clear that rope for me. Okay. If you can. All right. >> Feel like I'm supposed to keep people out. >> Yeah. Have you stand with your feet together and your arms down on your side just like that. Does anybody actually live here or No, >> I'm just trying to sell this. >> Okay. So, it's unoccupied. Okay. All right. Have you stand with your feet together and your arms on your side just like this? All right. Imagine an imaginary straight line out from your left foot. Go ahead and place your right foot in front of your left foot. Just like that for me. Okay. Stay in this position until I tell you to start the test. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> Okay. This test, you're going to take nine heel toe steps forward, nine heel toe steps back. >> I only I only did >> I only did three. >> I'm like shaky. I don't know if I can do whatever, you know, like I can >> This is This is your opportunity to show us that you are not too intoxicated to drive that vehicle. Okay. >> Isn't that what the breathalyzer says for? >> Well, we have a standardized set of things that we have to do in a certain order and we have to do this all before the breathalyzer. >> That's what all the lawyers and judges have agreed and that's >> that's where we're at. So, >> Yep. >> So, a few things. >> Nine of them. >> Yep. A few things to remember on this test. Make sure you're watching your feet, keeping your arms down at your side, counting out loud, and don't stop the test until you're done. Yep. Count out loud. Okay. >> Yeah. Do you have any more questions? Maybe it might, you know. >> Okay. All right. All right. Can you get back in the starting position for me? >> Okay. You may begin. >> 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9. I turn around, right? >> I can't tell you the answers now. 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 >> Okay, this next test is going to be a lot simpler. Have you stand your feet together and your arms on your side just like that. Then again, don't start until I tell you to start. Okay, for this test, you're going to take either foot of your choosing, place it approximately 6 in off the ground. Okay, you're going to look at look at your toe and you're going to count out loud. 1001 1002 1003 and so on. >> All right. I just want to refuse it. I got to refuse it. I can't. >> Okay. >> I really can't do this. >> And what's the reason for that? >> Because I can't I don't know. I can't do it. Do you have I have to have a reason like I'm freaking out. What you know? >> Uh just that you're you're having >> I'm trying to like concentrate on what you're saying and I can't stop thinking about >> Okay. Too emotional to continue to summarize. Okay. >> God. Okay. >> I didn't mean for any of this. It's going to happen. It's terrible. >> Okay. Well, let's do this one here. Do you have any any gum in your mouth? >> No. >> Nothing. Can you open it up? Lift up your tongue for me. >> I didn't get a chance to brush my teeth today. >> Well, that'll that'll have nothing to do with it. I'll stand far enough away. When was your last sip of alcohol? >> I don't know. About 20 minutes ago when >> Okay. What road we were on? F a whatever. >> Okay. Okay. It was one of these county roads up here before this all ended. >> Okay. It's been 15 minutes since we stopped. So, all right. Ever taken one of these before? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, these are really picky. They require you to blow pretty deep amount of air. So, I have a big breath in and blow out. More more more. Like I said, they're picky. They're picky. Okay. Okay, >> we're gonna have to redo that one. >> I'm a smoker. >> Yep. So, it's more important that you have a long slow instead of just all out at once like you did. >> Okay. >> All right. >> I'm sorry. I just >> Okay. >> [ __ ] Okay. >> Okay. Just start taking some deep breaths. Don't hold anything yet. >> Ready. >> I'm still waiting for it here. It's um It's acting strangely. >> Bod, I might need your PBT. >> Yep. This is a test code for your cell phone. >> Acting necessary. >> So your cell phone is going as evidence of what? Like I don't even know what is going on. Like I know that I >> She's Mirandized if you had any questions. >> I I know that I I didn't pull over and I led you guys on a highspeed chase. Whatever. But >> so >> Kelly reportedly said she was feeling quote a little out of my head end quote. called us. >> She said she ran because she quote wasn't going back to jail. End quote. >> So, I'm going to let Officer Clatt finish. >> Yeah. >> Was it you that was calling me? Yes. >> I'm sorry. I apologize. No, I'm too terrible. >> Take a breath in. Sorry to interrupt you. Who are you? >> Keep it up. Keep going. You're doing great. Doing great. Keep it up. Keep it up. Keep it up. And stop. >> Can you grab this tube for me? Y >> got your slide on it now. Just put that in your pocket. >> So, you're at >> Am I registering? >> Yeah, you're at a you're at a 0.1. So, >> what is 0.1? >> Oh, it's 08, right? 08. Yeah. Yeah. And based off what I saw, I I think you had a little bit more to drink than >> I was kind of chugging on that bottle a little bit. So, >> well, maybe even a little bit before that. >> I guess I did lie a little bit, >> but it's been a while. Like it's been since last night. >> Since last [snorts] night? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> I don't know. >> Did you have a lot last night? And was it late? >> Last night. >> Okay. >> Last night could be like 2 or 3:00 in the morning. So, >> okay. All right. So, you're also going to be under arrest for OI. >> I know. >> Okay. So, >> no. Can I cooperate? Can I have a cigarette? >> Yep. We can let you have a smoke and uh I'll grab my transport belt so we can cut you to the front cuz we got a longer ride to Wasaw for booking. So you don't have to be looked behind your car. >> Step over to my car. He'll get the transport val. >> All right. Four prior. >> She has four prior. Okay. Yeah. Uh she is she on a point or O2 restriction, too? Yeah, she's a 0.1. So either way. All right. Oh, >> that's nice. Um, yeah, I'll take her to the hospital then. All right. >> I'm going to let her have a smoke while I work on the paperwork and keep her happy. >> Yeah. Last thing I need is someone over here. There's nothing on you. Just something that I asked before. >> Okay. I understand. I'm sorry. You keep interrupting you guys. I understand all this. This isn't my first drill. >> So, I got your uh looks to be about 30 40 bucks in here. I'll transport that with you here. >> Do I need anything else? Like my wallet might be in the >> um if you want to throw this on or I got to get going on. >> That's just Okay. >> So, where's your wallet? >> I'm going to throw this back in your car. They'll just throw it out at the deal anyway. So, Cali was arrested and ultimately faced charges including fifth offense owi, fleeing from an officer, and interference with custody. She pleaded guilty to fifth offense owi and attempting to flee or elude an officer. The other charges involving operating without an ignition interlock device and operating while revoked were dismissed but read into the record at sentencing. On December 18th, Cali was sentenced to 2 years of initial confinement followed by 2 years of extended supervision on each count. The sentences were ordered to run concurrently. The court also imposed a $3,000 fine and revoked her driver's license for another 30 months.
