Today on Uncovered, please stop. Stop my man. Don't hurt me. Don't hurt me. >> June 12th, 2024, Grace Lakeake, Illinois. After losing her car keys, this 22-year-old attacks her mom, accusing her of hiding them. Police are called, leading to a violent arrest after she assaults first responders. >> Hey, what's going on? We got a call. >> So, my mom is like just freaking out. >> Okay. I've had a lot of problems with her, but I'm like So, basically, she took my car key and is just like, "Oh, I don't know where it went, but I know she took it and she's just pretending like she doesn't know where it is." >> Okay. And your Who else? Who else is in the house with you right now? >> Just my mom. >> Your mom's here in the house right now. Where is she at? >> Upstairs. But it's just that she like So, I had to take an Uber to work today because she took my car key last night and is just like not telling me where it is. was like laughing at me when I was looking for it for like 6 hours. I had to take an Uber to work and she's just like calling like she's just trying to gaslight me that I lost the key, but she really just took it and I don't know what she like >> step down here for a second. Just talk to your partner. I want to talk to your mom. >> Sure. I mean, I can go get her. It's okay. I can go get my mom. >> Just come down here and talk with Just >> No, I can just go get my mom cuz I don't want you to go in my house. >> Well, I got to talk to your mom. So, I'm going to have to go inside. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. We just We just got We just got We just got We got told we're here for a defense and that she's locked in the bathroom. >> We just got told she was locked in the bathroom. >> That's crazy. >> She's the one that called. >> She's the one that called us. >> That's stupid. She's alive. >> She's locked in the bathroom. >> She I I just can't She say that. >> Where is your mom at? Where's your mom at? >> Upstairs. You can go upstairs then. What's her name? >> I'm going to go back downstairs. >> You can stand right here. Just stand here. >> Stand at the bottom of the stairs. Don't go anywhere else. Is your brother home or No, >> I don't know. She's right. She's up that way. >> Officer, please. >> So, I I know you were talking to my partner. So, what was going on? So, what's going on today? >> I haven't seen my car keys since 5:00 p.m. yesterday and I walked away in one room and I walked back into it and they were gone and she was the only one there. So, I know for sure that she has them because she has like hidden my work clothes before and like she's just done a lot of stuff to me. And she I had to take a Uber to work today and just like and she keeps trying to tell me that I must have lost my keys or that I'm crazy and she keeps like but it's really that she like I don't know what she did with my car keys but >> did you were you able to find your car keys? >> No, >> they're not those right there. >> No. >> Okay. Whose car keys are those right there? >> Hers. >> Okay. How many cars do you have? Two. >> Two. Okay. But it's just like she's I just can't believe that she would call the police saying that like she's locked in a room when the only way to lock that door is from the inside. Like honestly I think like I'm not trying to be mean. Like she was I was looking for the car key for like 6 hours and she was like laughing in my face and I just really I don't even want anything to come of this but besides finding my key but it's just she's kind of like >> Did it get it did it get physical at all between you and her? You push her, she push you? anything like that. So, you said, "Are you going to work right now or trying to go to work or were you supposed to go to work?" >> Just back from work. >> Okay. So, you you were at work. You drove to work, correct? >> No. >> Okay. How'd you get to work? >> An Uber. I just told you. >> Okay. I'm sorry. So, you couldn't find your keys to get to work. Is that where this >> at 5:00? But I knew that I didn't lose them because I know where my keys are at. And if I ever have I probably lost my keys once before. And I lost them for an hour, not 6 hours because they could either be like one of five places really. >> Okay. And you don't think your brother took him? >> I'm hoping not, but I don't know why he I mean, the car is still here, so I don't think that he would, >> but I have no idea. >> Well, I mean, you you said you don't know if he's here or not right now. And you said you lost him sometime or you couldn't find them sometime last night. Correct. >> Sure. But I I know that I didn't lose them. It's just the doubt. Yeah. And then, but she was like looking happy that I couldn't find them. So, I really think that she did something with them. >> Has there been any issues before with the keys and the whole issue? She's taken my keys before. >> Okay. Is there a reason why? Just because >> because she's kind of has a lot of junk and then gets incredibly irritated when I move it. You'll see. For example, there's like she just hasn't redone like I'm not trying to be rude. She just hasn't redone the bathroom. So, she just keeps all of her stuff that she's working on. It's just sitting out there. It's kind of just like mild hoarding, which is So, I just like need a space to like walk. And then she like I called my brother to try to ask him like can you get a hold of my mom because she has me blocked for some reason. And then he did get a hold of her. And then she like told me a bunch of reasons why she was mad at me. And then those were the and then my brother was like this is not my younger brother that lives here but my older brother that doesn't live here saying oh well you deserved it. And I'm saying I deserve what? So what does she do with my key? So like this is just like crazy. >> Have you ever thought about moving out? Have you ever tried to move out? >> I want to move out like as soon as possible but >> I got you. I don't know. She like just keeps telling me like you need like I want to leave as soon as possible, but she's telling me to leave. But then like I think she's like pulling this as like some sort of a stunt to like take my car key and then like act like she's like pretending that I'm doing something to her, >> but really she just wants to like act like she doesn't know what happened to the key, but this has never happened. Like the the key is gone and I don't know what she did with it. >> Okay. >> That like or at least it's just really frustrating that like she's hidden my work clothes. like she's like very like but like I just need my keys to be able to go. >> Oh my gosh. Well, we'll see. We'll see what we can do for you. Obviously, I don't know what's going on besides talking to you. Okay. So, I don't know what's going on upstairs. I'm sure when my partner comes back down, you know, they'll obviously give a little bit more insight into what's obviously going on. >> I called this morning. >> Okay. For for what? Cuz I wasn't here, so I didn't >> Oh, it was like the non-emergency. >> Okay. >> Police. And then I just said that I have been looking for my car keys for many hours and like this and all like the context around it that like my brother like saying well you deserved it. I'm like deserve what? What did she do with my key? And then her like looking happy that I couldn't find it and like I haven't been able to drive since like yesterday afternoon. And then I it's just like she wanted to like cause all of this for me and then she's like she's starting her new job today and she's like oh I'm going to start my new job and while you're looking for the car key and like laughed in my face like I could just leave right now but I'm just looking for my key but as soon as I have my key then I would like to get out of here >> cuz I didn't like I really was not trying to stay here but I didn't expect her to like eventually take my key. >> We can try to help with that. Your mom obviously has concerns for you >> about like she was like running into me >> as trying to like leave >> like No, just like in the room like running into me. >> How could she run into you in her room? >> She wasn't in her room. She was in the hallway. >> In the hallway. Yeah. Trying to leave. >> Trying to leave. Okay. But she was she could have left if she wanted to. But I don't know what you're saying. But what I'm saying is that she took like the re I've never misplaced my key like this before. She was laughing at me with glee like, "Ha, you can't find the key. I hope you have fun trying to get to work today while I start the first day of my new job that she doesn't show it to you. But I'm telling you that like I'm not trying to like She really just is a faker. And why would I even fabricate this? This is just a waste of my own time. What? Pretend like I don't know where my key is. Like I really don't know where my key is. >> So >> because like I really think that she like did something with it. >> I'm saying that however push and chug. >> I did not push and chug hers. But she pushed me too, if you would call it that. I really don't. Excuse me. >> Wait, wait. Help. >> Excuse me. I'm in my own house. >> What are you trying to do, though? Wait, hold up. Hold up. >> I'm not walking away. Please let Wait. I'm I'm literally talking to you. >> I'm literally talking to you. I'm asking you. What are you doing? >> I'm sorry. >> The fire department. They just want to talk to you real quick. Just ask you a couple questions. They just want to talk to you. >> Just talk to them. We're not so irritating. >> We're not forcing you to do go anywhere. that she's a [ __ ] I'm sorry. I I didn't mean her. >> Do me a favor. Just have a seat for me real quick. Okay. >> See, this is so embarrassing for me. I like I'm trying to get the out of here and then she just like takes my car key. >> Okay. Well, we'll get to the bottom of everything and we'll go from there. Okay. >> We just came here for a domestic incident. >> There was not a domestic incident. >> So, that there's a reason why I'm keeping the two of you guys separated. >> The I'm sorry. The reason that I'm upset is because I feel like she's trying to fabricate something against me that I was violent when I was not. I'm telling you. Okay. >> She Do you know how many times that she slapped me in the face? That like I'm not gonna like crazy to me that she's trying to say that I physically did something to her when she is physically violent to me nearly every day and didn't I went to the Grace Lake Police Department because I was trying to file a restraining order and then I just got nervous about it and then I thought, where the [ __ ] am I going to go? Do you know what I'm saying? But I just need my car key because I can just be in my car. But like I just like I'm good. I just got to get out of here. and she is just acting like because I haven't lost my car key ever like that and then she like she's just telling a bunch of lies because she it's just very frustrating because she's very violent to me and then she's trying to say that I am like shoving her when I'm just trying to ask her what she did with my car key because you can say that whatever you want to say but God knows the truth that she was laughing in my face saying I hope you have fun trying to find the car key and I'm not making that up but she might be a good actor but >> okay well she all she asks is for you to get just checked on. She's not saying that you have to go anywhere. But this is >> But here's here's what we're talking about. No, can I tell I said >> you just continue to keep talking over me and let me just tell you real quick. >> Let me finish. >> As long as you just talk with them and just tell them, you know, how you're feeling and everything. It makes it makes the whole process go smoother and then they can leave if that's if that's what you want. >> I don't want anything but my car key. And it's just frustrating. >> They have protocols that they have to take. You know, every time we get a call for any type of mental health, we got to we got to get we got to get the professionals. These are the professionals. >> But really, I think you should like I'm good because that's the reason that she's doing it is because she is mentally unstable that she's trying to do that to me. >> And if they see something, they're going to they're going to address it. >> Sure. But I'm telling you, she's like, can I show you a video? >> Can you just just tell them real quick so it makes the process go a lot faster and then we can try to find this key and get you out of here? >> Sure. I know. That's what my objective is, too. >> So, what medications do you take? I don't have to tell you that. >> No, I'm back to square one. >> So, that's the thing is we're we're going to have to talk and we're going to get that information anyways. You're just making it harder. That's all you're doing. And you're making the process longer. >> I know, but what is the issue? >> They just they're just asking to know what type of medications I'm wondering why >> cuz they're just doing a quick evaluation. And again, like I said, they're just going to talk to you. It's pretty quick and as long as >> Can I ask are you able to locate my car key with a key fob? Because I called that into the police because like is that I'm really I don't want >> any conflict with my mom. >> We cannot if it's just a regular key, >> a broken lamp. Are you kidding? I took the lamp shade off of my lamp. >> All right. So sh >> like you can look in my room and like think it's messy, but do you want to see this video that she just dumped a bunch of stuff in my room? >> No. >> Like >> did that happen today? >> Yesterday. >> Okay. If it's yesterday, then it it >> really you want to see the >> She she dumped all this stuff in my room. It's like >> you're both recording each other. >> Yeah, exactly. Because I'm telling you that she like >> makes a lot of things up about me and it's just frustrating when you have somebody lying about you. >> Let's get you out of the situation. Go to the hospital. Let's talk about you. You You were talking about No, listen. >> No, I I don't need to go to the hospital for anything. >> You did a lot of talking. Now it's my turn. You were talking about getting order protection but then worried about where you would go. >> No, I'll go on my car and that's why she took my >> I'm not listening which makes it very hard to communicate with you at the hospital. They have resources. We don't necessarily need to go for a medical emergency but let's get you down there. Get you some resources and we can go from there. You can't live out your car. >> And why do you think that I'm mentally unstable? Can you tell me that >> based on the story of your mother? >> Based really based on the story of my mother. >> Can I tell you that she's also an alcoholician? Do you not care that she like slaps me in the face? This is a major injustice because I'm afraid of her. >> Well, you weren't so afraid to lock her in the bathroom. >> Lock her in the bath. I didn't How would I lock her in the bathroom? How would I lock her in the bathroom? That's not possible because only it can only be locked from the inside of the bathroom. >> She locked herself in the bathroom cuz she was scared of you. >> You just said that I locked her in the bathroom. That doesn't make sense. You said I locked her in the bathroom because I didn't lock her in the bathroom and I wasn't violent with her. Please stop telling me that I was violent when she physically abuses me very often. You guys really don't care about that, do you? I was not violent with her. I'm not going anywhere because I didn't hurt her. I didn't put No. >> And I'd like you to come on her own valition. Otherwise, we will >> Do you know how many times she's punched me >> and slapped me? Can you ask my mom about her medical history? Because I don't have to tell you anything that I don't want to. >> Well, I'm trying You're trying to talk your way out of it and I'm trying to give you an excuse and you won't even tell me. tell you anything I don't want. >> You're right. You don't >> I just need to sit down for a second. I don't know why that you have something against me. What do you have against trying to talk to you and you won't talk to me? So, >> I'm talking to you, but why are you trying answering my questions? >> You're not like >> But you're right. You don't have to answer, but it just makes me more difficult to fight for you to stay cuz it feels like you're trying to hide something. >> Stay for what? >> To not go to the hospital. I'm trying to help you. >> What do you want to know? >> What medical history do you have and what medications do you take? >> Can you ask me why? Can I ask why? so that I can assess what is going on. I can't assess what's going on if I don't have all the facts. But you won't give them to me >> because you're not asking my mom because you ask her because >> you're right. I'm asking you. >> I don't take anything. >> Then why wouldn't you have just said that before? Now it sounds like you're trying >> because do you think that what do you consider >> anything prescribed by a doctor? What medical conditions do you have by a doctor? You go >> because seriously, why don't I have any sort of privacy to my own medical information? Exactly. So, please stop making me feel bad that I don't want to discuss my >> You're asking me >> medical information, >> what I'm trying to assess and I'm telling you >> I don't know. I think that I'm good. Okay. But I don't know the like how do I prove to you that I'm mentally well. I don't want to give you my personal information. That's all I'm saying. But otherwise, I will I don't know what you have against me. You're saying I'm mentally ill for or whatever. What are you saying is what I'm asking you. I'm not trying to be rude. I'm really not. I never the words mentally ill never came out of my mouth >> because why would I ever need to go to a hospital? What I'm telling you is that I think that >> you're interrupting me. >> She might have taken my keys. That's all I'm saying. >> And again, I'd like to not have to force this situation. So, I'm asking you, can we get you some shoes to put on so that we can go to the hospital? >> I I really think this is ridiculous. >> Okay. Well, we'll figure that out at the hospital. But right now, we're going to the hospital. >> Why Why are you Why are you pretending that I'm mentally ill? My mom hits me every day. You got You all don't care about >> Where are your shoes >> upstairs? Can I please go upstairs? >> We will go upstairs and we'll get the shoes for you. >> I'm not letting you upstairs. >> We already told you. >> I'm not Can you walk upstairs with me? I'm not doing anything. >> Absolutely not. >> Why are you all standing like this? Can I just get a drink of water, please? >> No, >> I can't even get water. >> No, you can get water at the hospital. >> At the hospital. >> If you're not even going to let me get a drink of water, stop asking me about my shoes, please. >> Can you guys grab a pair of shoes? >> No, I'm good on the shoes. I got the shoes. >> Yeah. No shoes. >> No, I got the shoes. I >> Man, why are you back? I'm not speaking right now. They're downstairs. It's >> not by the door. I think I saw some water. >> I would really like some water. Seriously, can I please have some water? >> Can I please have some water? If you really care about how I'm feeling, can I please have some water? Can you walk with me? >> We're going to go. We'll walk with you till you seriously, man. >> Come on. We don't We don't want to have to grab you. Come on. >> I don't want to grab you. >> Just Just walk. You're going the wrong way. >> Just walk with us. God, I'm good. >> Shay, you're going to force us to have to actually grab you and take you and we don't want to do that. Let's go right now. You're going to the hospital. >> Not a threat to anybody. >> Okay, then just we didn't say you were a threat. So, just walk with us. >> Petition. A petition has been signed. >> Yes, it has. And so now we're going to go. >> She stole my car key and she's trying to She fabricated this entire thing to make me >> And I'd like you to come on your own valition so that we can >> because I didn't do anything wrong. She stole my park key and is trying and is making things up. Do you know how physically and mentally abusive she is? Do you not care that? Do you not? No. Because I can stay right here and tell you I'm good. I need to save. Seriously, please don't touch me. >> I'd like you to come with us. >> Why are you here? >> I'm not a friend. Please get away from me. Get away from me. Seriously. Get away from me. Please. You don't need to do this to me. >> I'm going to show this to the whole world what you're doing right now. >> You're welcome to do that. >> We got to go. >> Stop grabbing me. >> Stop. >> Stop. Please. Stop. Please. >> We don't want to touch you. >> What the >> So, come with us willingly and then we can do this. >> No. Stop doing this to >> Stand up. Stand up. You're willing to You're able to stand up. >> No. Please. >> Stop throwing yourself in a shake. >> No. You know it. You know it. There's nothing wrong with me. >> We tried to go the easy route and get you to go with me. >> No, the easy route. There's no easy route. She stole my key. I don't All I want is No. No. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I won't say that. Okay. I won't say. >> Why are you making >> I'm sorry. >> You're hurting me. >> I'm I'm sorry. I'm I'm trying because I won't whatever is she Why is >> Please stop touching me. Please stop touching. Stop touching me. You're kicking me. I'm not. Stop. Your feet are touching my leg. Please stop touching me. Please stop. No. Stop touching me. Stop touching me. Please stand up. >> Stop touching me, man. Stop. >> Stand up. >> Let's go. What's going on? Let's go. >> No. Please stop. Please. Please. Please. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Please. Please. Stop. Please. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Please. >> Hey. Watch your head. Shake. Watch your head. >> Stop. Stop. Man, please. Please stop. >> Just stop. >> Stop. >> Just walk out. >> No. Please my old house crazy. >> Why are you doing this to me? >> Just come out. >> Please. You're coming into my house and the [ __ ] man. Stop. >> You're going. >> What the No. Stop. I'm not. Please stop, man. Stop. I I'll walk. Please. Let me go. >> No. We're passing at this point. >> Okay. Come on. You're going to get hurt. Stop. >> You are going to get hurt or somebody else is going to get hurt. Stop it. >> Why would you say that? >> I can I can stand on land. Don't hurt me. Don't hurt me. >> We are trying not to hurt you, but you are fighting everything we're doing. >> Sponge. Stop. Put my shirt back. >> Just don't go out. >> Come on. Let's go, >> man. Stop. Stop hurting my arms. Please >> stop fighting with us. I'm not. You are. You are. You are fighting with me.
