on Saturday September 2nd 2023 at around 10:50 p.m. Farmington Police received a 911 call from a Speedway convenience store after a shoplifter had battered a store clerk the caller advised police that two bystanders had witnessed the events and took matters into their own hands by holding the shoplifter until police arrived just stay right there get no stay right there [Applause] hey he's face go get one I'll bite that go just go over there a this I bite the fish you're not going anywhere yeah could be pick me up I'm not picking you up yeah me are you good I'll get all your information in just a minute okay I'm go to Sil Center you're not going to Silver Center you're going to jail no I'm not no but he's on ground okay well if he until he doesn't just leave all right Dereck let's sit up uh noticed to the Staggering so I called my other coworker and then he tried to Pi some deer and he just he put it down and then he started to get aggressive with a coworker and then he kept trying to say go get out get out get out leave anyway so I'm holding the door open he's trying to get him out and then I had the door open so he came out and then he came out for me and that's when he hit me so when he hit me then these guys jumped in and help you see it closed fist or open Clos are you needing medical attention ma'am no yeah he was there first and then that's when I okay all right you say he was trying to take alcohol what was he trying to take um a 40 you reserve I think yeah oh okay like a yeah like 40 you know which hand he hit you with uh the right the right hand and then what else happened when you were inside you said you were staggering he trying to take items so you called another empy yeah when he jumped in and I put out ium in get these information I'll just talk to you for over here for a second manam can I talk to you over here and can I get your information so just to kind of get the story straight he comes in he's staggering um tries to take alcohol bottle 40 oz M um at that point another employee comes to help you you guys take him out uh we're trying to tell him to go out um uh cuz I remember I was holding the door open and then he's trying to punch my other coworker and my other coworker is trying to like tell him to get out and I have the door open yeah and I'm trying to like you know get out leave leave leave and so finally he get to the door and then that's when he turns and he comes towards me does he exit the building and then comes back yeah he comes out right here and then he exits the building once he's out that's when he hits me and then these guys came in onion um and they help bring him down and hold him down right and then comes out and he comes back at you and then punches you in the face right yeah and then that's when these guys basically come in and help you okay so the guy with the white T-shirt was sitting on him for a while and then this guy showed up and then um he was like hey do you want me to take over got you did he do anything to these guys you know not that I know I go after here so I came back out got okay um do you know if he had any injuries was he slammed to the ground was he just like put to the ground do you know how he was brought to the ground um no it was like all three of them trying to just get them to stop and H him down and he was like getting aggressive with them and like trying to hit and they were just like trying to be like hey stop this isn't cool um yeah okay do you know how he was brought to the ground do you know how he was brought to the ground he said he just kind of tossed him on the ground okay and then he said when he came out he saw the other witness is like holding it down so then he not to help him okay 4 105 105 we have one detained and he's banging his set against the partition right now cop that hey cut it out man do not try to kick me don't kick me hey do you need medical attention sir you looking at me do you need medical attention do you have an ID on you shut the do you need medical attention shut the sir do not do that for you hey not slam the door Kumar looks like Derrik was transported and booked into the San Juan County Detention Center on charges of shoplifting battery and battery on an officer time two online court records indicate that on January 30th 2024 Derek was found to be incompetent and the case was dismissed without prejudice online Court records indicate drik has been arrested several times prior for different reasons which include battery on an officer shoplifting and drinking in public however each case has been dismissed for several reasons which include the prosecutor failing to appear Derek ruled incompetent and dismissal due to the six-month rule comes over yeah he's like yeah he'll spit on you through
